Opera has several disadvantages anyways; although it is admittedly slightly faster. Still, I wouldn't use it for anything secure; since Opera's servers are interpreting the websites and sending you a sort of "screenshot" (with text) of the result, confidential info would be passing through Opera's servers.

:frown: Hi guys a real rookie here. Basically, I have a Nokia 5200 it is Bluetooth capable and the instruction manual says " you can receive e-mail using the service provided by your carrier ". Now does this provider mean SpeakOut ? And if so can I use Bluetooth to link my cell phone and my laptop ( also BT capable )
Next , how do I do this ?
Really, my ideal situation would be sign up for UL browsing ( 10$ / month ) and access my Bell Sympatico, e-mail address, from the Nokia to my laptop ( Dell Studio 17, i7 processor )
P.S. no QWERTY keyboard

I'm a current Petro customer, and i recently dialed *777 to check my balance. My balance was about $30, but it says my service has already expired, but my airtime minutes expires this october.
So I called customer service to inquire, and I asked them to call me back if anything goes wrong.
A while later, they call back and left a message to call them back. I haven't returned their call yet.
I've been using a 2G iphone to use their unlimited WAP service. Just wondering, do they have any policies with regards to outright disallowing specific phones (i.e.: smartphones)? Can they track how I use the "data" service?

From all that I read on their site, there is no specific statement that disallows you to use a smartphone. It does say that you must use a Speakout phone, but also states that you can use any other unlocked phone, though all features may not be supported.
It is also possible that Rogers has begun monitoring for smartphone usage and has deactivated you. They did the same thing on their own network recently.
Call them back, and please report back here.

Turns out it was just a bug in their system with regards to their Service Time expiry. The customer service rep explained that they were trying to get rid of that parameter entirely, since it's not relevant to the account.
So it seems like things have been fixed, and no warnings about which phone we can or cannot use.

I'm thinking of getting a new, good unlocked cell phone (big screen, touch screen, running Android or Iphone OS) but before I do, I want to make sure the cell phone is fully compatible with this unlimited browsing, so my question is how do I know if the cell phone I'm choosing will be compatible with this program? thanks in advance

Found the data way too slow also it did not work a few places, when needed, I just switch to a iPad data plan. I needed to swap my sim, but it works.

All you can do is read the forum and learn from other's experiences. I can tell you that people have had success with the 2G and 3GS iphones, but not the 3G model. I don't think anyone has had any luck with the Android phones either.

The E71 is also eligible for the (free) full GPS navigation service from OVI Maps.
The voice guided system using OVI Maps runs on the E71 with no need for a data connection of any kind once you have downloaded and installed the OVI Map App on your phone. I've used the OVI Maps navigation function with an expired SIM in the phone -- which just let the phone boot normally but wouldn't connect to any network.
I was updating the Nokia Maps and the Nokia updater offered to install OVI maps instead -- I said OK and when it installed and rebooted, I had voice guided navigation on the E71. The older Nokia Maps program would install on the E71 and locate you with the GPS, but it required an annual license to do the voice guidance. You could plot a route on the maps but as soon as you clicked the "drive to" function it looked for a paid license.
I don't have SO data, but the E71 gives me full GPS functions and SO voice very nicely.
I use wifi for the other things I can do from the phone. It of course only works at locations where I can get on to a wifi network. The E71 runs all of Skype, Fring, and Nimbuz on wifi with reasonable quality for various messenger voice systems including Skype and Gizmo. Skype worked on all 3 but seemed a bit better on Fring -- I guess that is gone -- I got an email from Fring yesterday saying that Skype was blocking their clients. Fring is a bit of a PITA -- the setting that keeps it from loading when you boot the phone is not obvious -- but if you dig deep enough it is there.
