Anyone knows how long is the 5$ startup credit is valid for once the SIM has been activated?
Took advantage of the 100$ promo for 25$ airtime and 30$ off a phone. Got the alcatel 871A for only 10$, free SIM and 5$ startup credit seemed like a very good deal (the price of a blank SIM, new phone and 5$ extra credits).
Now I used the 125$ airtime topup on my existing speakout line, but I was wondering for how long do the 5$ startup credit is good for if I activate the SIM.
I phoned in and been told I can wait as long as I wait to initially activate the SIM, so theoretically it wouldn't have an expiry until I'm ready to activate and start using the new SIM and number for the 5$, but I'm curious about the expiry once the activation has been done.
Also, a bit disappointment about the battery life on the phone. I think the phone was released in 2013, so I guess they have been sitting in the shelf for about 2-3 years. Even so, my old Sony Ericsson Z520a been going for 11 years now and still has decent battery. Albeit very minimal usage as I'm using it as the emergency phone for Speakout.
And now going a bit offtrack with my initial question regarding the 5$ credit expiration, but how often do Speakout offers free phones with the purchase of 100$ topups? Noticed my Z520 is 2G and rogers will shutdown the 2G network around 2018 if I'm not mistaken, so need to plan to buy another 3G replacement (besides the 871A that I just got).
Wondering if deals for decent 3G phones for less than 10$ (preferably free) can be had in the future from speakout.
