I was down in Regina today (I live in S'toon) for some business I had to take care of and, because I my balance was low, I stopped in at 7-eleven. On my way out, I noticed a sign tucked off to the side of the store that if you purchase $50 worth of airtime, they give you 50 minutes free, they called it the 50/50 bundle or something like that.
I looked around on the net and didn't see anything about this but I was just curious if anyone has seen the before?

Sounds like the July 2008 promotion.

If you do the math, it works out that you get the minutes for 20 cents (the old rate). I wonder if this is in response to how poorly SO communicated the rate increase. When I talked to a cust. service mgr a while back, he mentioned they may be doing something to try and appease all the POed existing customers like me.
