If I have an unlocked GSM phone that was previously used with Rogers, can I just get a new sim (for cheapo) from 7-11 and use that, instead of buying a new phone?

MDMM, the deal is on now, you do not have to wait.

$49 for Nokia 1600 with any Speakout Wireless air time purchase, or $25 off any phone with any Speakout Wireless air time purchase.

So, essentially you got $25 free air time when you buy any phone at regular price.

Some stores, like the one on Main St in Brampton, do not have Nokia 1600 in stock though. ;)

I woner if a person purchased 3 $25.00 cards, would you get $75.00 off the price of a phone?

My understanding of the deal is to purchase a phone and get $25.00 air time for free, not to buy $25.00 air time, get $25 discount on the purchase of a phone.

Dangit, those *as*ar*s down at the local 7-11 said that the sign was "just old". False advertising! I wondering if I can make them put their money where their sign is?

It's the 2610.

I've just now finished requesting info about promos for Speak out phones in another section of this site. I was told this afternoon by my local 7-11, there is nothing cheaper than paying $100.00 with $10.00 air time. Obviously I said no thanks but are they correct..it's doesn't look that way. Help !
I live in Burnaby BC.

I just purchased the Nokia 1600 and there was a sing on the door at my local 7-Eleven that said $49 with any airtime purchase. I bought the phone plus a $25 card and the total after tax was $83.62. The phone also came loaded with a $5 credit.

P.S. I live in Ontario.

Kewl! If it's an emergency phone, e.g. that you keep in the glove compartment of your car and hopefully won't use the $25-$30 air time during the year, then that works out to ~$7/month in the first year and ~$2/month after that.

I got the 1600 from there today. I'm really exicted. Call clarity is good and seems like a pretty decent phone. 😀

Got a 1600 today at the Don Mills / Overlea location. Huge stack of them available. Also had one 2610 available.

Finally free from Rogers' evil contracts! woohoo!

Here's where you can find the nearest 7-11

http://www.7-eleven.com/storel.....Input.aspx

As far as Rogers contracts go, it'll take too long to explain. Call up Rogers and ask them about their 3-year contracts.

And, just in case you were unaware, there are no contracts with 7-11, or with any company's pre-paid cellphones.

Just saying I'm no longer with Rogers after 6 years. Can't believe I stuck around that long.

It's located at the gas station at the Don Mills/Overlea. Check out the link provided by Big Ang.

I have been trying to email their flaming positive/complaint 'address' & it's an total exercise in futility !! It's impossible to get past the damn time required question. Accident by design I assume..this way everyone gives up & blows away. I want to know when the next decent promo is coming to BC. My local 7-11 has no clue, &, as they don't speak English well, I can't question them about offers that may be on the horizon.
I've been trying to get this sorted now for weeks & want a Nokia 1600..that's all !

For those that see the 2610 for sale - how much is it (before $25 off)? It is no longer listed on this site or 7-eleven's site.

It was $ 125.00 about 3 weeks ago.

The Nokia 2760 (flip-style phone) was $125 before the special. The Nokia 2610 (candybar-style phone) was $100 before the special.

The official SpeakOut site really stinks. The Nokia 2610 is still listed there, but the 2760 isn't there, nor do I think it was EVER listed there. The official site still has two phones listed that SpeakOut has stopped selling MONTHS ago!

Note to Speakout/7-11 employees (or even Ztar Mobile employees that can pass the info on) that may be reading this - PLEASE PLEASE improve your site, even a little bit! Just look at the PetroCanada Mobile site, copy it, replace the PetroCan logo with yours, and there you go! Or at the very least, please update it, so us fans can have a secondary site to go to in addition to this one!

Well I bit the bullit today after IMMENSE frustration with Telus's Pay and Talk plan. I can not WAIT to dump that company.

The first 7-eleven I went in did not have the 1600, nor would they honour the promotion. Then I went two blocks away to another store (this is in Victoria BC, BTW) and got a phone plus 30 mins for $82 after tax.

Only problem is, Telus has been so screwed up lately that eveyone's given up calling me.

Look at the bright side of it.
If nobody is calling you, that saves you money.

k, you've all convinced me to go out and buy the Nokia 1600...as i'm in desperate need of one, but broke at the same time. I was doing a little searching, and came across something that was absolutely genius!
One speakout phone owner actually had 2 sim cards (One from speakout, and one from rogers), that he switched between. During the day, he would use the speakout SIM card (20 cents/min daytime) and at night or weekends he'd use his rogers one. Rogers has a plan where you pay 1 cent/min for nights and weekends! (but 39 cents/min during the day). How cool is this?! Only problem is getting yer paws on a Rogers SIM card. Anyone have any suggestions aside from the phone exchane forum?

I think it depends on the store. I was at the cell phone kiosk in the Calgary NW Costco and it sounded like they would have been willing to sell me a Rogers SIM. But that may have been only because they had extras lying around. In the end I didn't buy it so I have no idea of the cost, etc.

I looked into the the Rogers 1 cent plan. The problem with it is that it costs $20/month to top it up and weekday nights start at 8pm. So it's only worth it if you use your phone more than 100 mins a month on weekends and between 8 and 8. I'm just not one of those people.

If you're really a heavy evenings and weekends user, there's also the Rogers $1 a day plan with unlimited and weekend and weekday evenings starting at 6pm till 8am. The website says you only need $20 top up per month for this plan. I'm not sure how that works? I would think it should cost you $~30/month.
