Just as an FYI, if any of you are interested in actually seeing the Nokia 5200, Best Buy is selling the Fido branded one for $99 right now. Click here. I'm assuming it's locked to the Fido n/w though (not that couldn't be "fixed").

My brother currently has a Nokia 5300, which is basically a 5200 with better specs. He really likes the phone, thinks it's great. Does everything he needs. The phone is a little chunky, but it's pretty cool. I may end up getting a 5200 from SpeakOut the next time one of their promotions come along, depending on the price and other phones available.

Personally, I'm waiting for a phone with a better than VGA resolution camera. Other than that, I do like the rest of the 5200 features.
I was thinking about it and I think you could get the 5200 right now for about the same price as the next SO promo, if everything works out. There's a lot of IFs here. I'm assuming the 5200 is going to be the next $125 model to replace the Nokia 2760 and it's going to be usual buy $100 airtime, get $75 credit on a phone promo, just like the one at Christmas, meaning the 5200 would actually cost you $50.
The 5200 costs $99 at Best Buy right now, and I believe comes with a $25 Fido credit. If you could sell the Fido SIM with your old SO phone to cover the cost of the unlock and a little bit extra, I think you could end up close to $50 you'd have to pay it during the next promo. Put your SO SIM in your newly unlocked 5200 and you're good to go.

Hello,
I do have an old Nokia...I don't have it with me at the moment and i had it since 2000. It does have a rogers sim card in it. I use the phone as my alarm clock now. I want to know if it is possible to get a SO sim and use it with that phone. I don't know if that phone is locked to rogers or not. I only need to make calls and receive calls. i don't need camera, radio, etc and all that extras. Where can I bet SO sim if it is possible? Do you think Rogers will unlock that phone for me?
Thanks

I am in Montreal, Quebec, would a 7-11 phone work here on the Rogers networks after I have the SIM area code number changed ?
Seems like the only service that I like with a 365 days expiry date for top up as little as $25.
Also, is there anyway to top up the talk time minutes without having to physically buy the card at a 7-11 location ?

Yes.

You could buy an airtime voucher from someone on this forum. Or if you have a family member or friend who lives in 7-11 territory, get them to buy the voucher and read you the serial number. In both cases you would use this number to perform the recharge using your phone.

It would be really really great if 7-11 offers the 5200 for $125. But Best Buy is now selling it for $175.
