i'm reading the user reviews on the nokia 2760 and it seems like they're all bad. anyone know for sure how well this phone works, or doesn't work?
You're right - a lot of users in India are complaining about the connection being lost or they can't hear each other (what else would you use a phone for??) anymore after a few seconds. The retailers are blaming the network provider, but the problems are isolated to just this one model. The phone also seems to be available in the UK, but no real comments from there yet.

Probably it is not necessary to add this note. Just wanted to give another confirmation of the above offer but at the store level. My Winnipeg 7-11 store clerk went to her back room and found the exact same email from her head office. So the offer is out there right down to the street level.

I live in Ottawa and went to a 7-Eleven store near my home. But the store keeper had no idea about 7-eleven speakout. I was a bit embarrassed to be at the wrong spot. Can anyone tell me any 7-eleven store in Ottawa that has Cell phones?
I bet you anything that the phones were just on a shelf or something.
I've seen someone do the same thing. They were asking to buy a phone and the guy didn't have a clue....the phones were in a case right in front of him....he just kept telling the customer that they weren't real, and just as show to promote selling air-time cards.
The manager walked over, grabbed the phone, scanned it and told the guy the price and appologized for the employees actions.
All the time, the employee didn't have a clue.
From what I know they have them in almost every store . . . sometimes they only take up a foot or two of space on a random shelf.
The thing that you have to remember is that 7-11 only sells them, they don't do anything more than that really. So you just buy the phone, and then customer service does the reset over the phone.

when I was looking for a 6061 flip phone a couple of months ago, I went to several 7-11s. They all sell SpeakOut phones, and they all had a big display near the cash (empty boxes on an end display, regular shelves). Of course none had the 6061 but they all had phones (or had a display but were sold out):
- Richmond Road
- Bank Street
- Beechwood
- Scott Street
I didn't try the other two locations. As the others posted, just don't expect the guy in the store to know anything (and it's management's fault, not his).
This new flip phone is great news, though for the person I'm trying to set up, I want the minimum feature set. The 6061 would probably be good, I may have to get one on eBay.

I went to the 7-11 at Bank near Sunnyside. They were very well informed. They said "yes, we're definitely getting lots of phones in." I noted that last promotion they were all sold out and they said that headquarters had not done much publicity and been unprepared for the demand, but this time they expected lots more phones.
They have a little display of lots of brands of phone cards as you go in, but to get the phone, you must ask at the cash.

Also, when porting your number over the 7-11 CS will ask for some number, in addition to the phone number, but I'm not sure what the number is called. It would have come with your Virgin Mobile phone package that you used when setting that phone up. So, have the Virgin Mobile stuff handy when calling 7-11 CS to port your number over. I'll be doing the same as well.

I bought a 7-11 Nokia 1600 in Toronto and ported my Virgin Oakville number to it successfully. The 7-11 CS will ask for your Virgin phone number and IMEI number (there's another name for the same number.. ASN?) which is underneath the battery in my old Nokia 6015i (I called Virgin to be sure, and they just gave me the same number that was on the phone).
