I dropped by a 7-Eleven yesterday and saw their display indicating the new promo. At stores in the Vancouver area at least, they have a flip chart next to the cell phone stuff showing the offerings and promos and dates they're effective.
Of course I asked the clerk at a 7-Eleven in Burnaby about it and he scanned the register and said there were no new promos listed. Perhaps it only displayed the still in effect current promos cause their aisle display was obviously ready for the Nov 16th promo. He also said they usually get their shipments Sundays which wouldn't jive with the promo date so I'll be checking with the manager in the morning...
I *might* pop by at midnight 🙂

You people talked me into it. Our first cell phone.I went this morning to a Winnipeg 7-11 and bought the 1600. They had the display up. 2760s they had no stock. She tried to do 2 $50 cards but it didn't work so i had to buy $100 and got the phone free. There is no mention of any $5 starter minutes so i'll wait until we need the phone before i activate the $100. Thanks for the good information here.

7-11 store on Queen St East in Toronto has the deal. Quite a few phones behind the counter.
The cleark wasn't sure how to ring the deal up, but the manager stepped in, and I was out of there in about 4 minutes.
...(I upgraded ($50) to the 2760 - it is Black - has a 647 area code)

7-11 store on Lakeshore Blvd W in Etobicoke has the deal. Plenty of phones (all models) available.
Basically You can pick any phone but you get $75 discount.
I bought two 1600 and 4 $50 cards and paid $200+taxes ($28).
As for as denominations go you should be able to get any as long as the total add up to $100. Note that these are non-stock items (computer generated on the fly) and therefore the clerk should be able to ring it.
Enjoy SpekingOut!

7-11, Vaughan (GTA), Rutherford und Weston. Got 4 x $25 and Nokia 1600. Number is 647 (doesn't matter since I'm going to transfer my old Fido one).
Seems, they have a lot of them in stock.
1600 is not locked - at least it works with other SIMs (in Rogers network).
BTW, does anybody need new Nokia 1600?
Or $25 refills for $15 apiece? ;))

Presumably you're getting SpeakOut because you're a light user and you're frugal. If all you need a phone for is to speak and text with others then "free" is good. Get the 1600.
If you need a simple camera (VGA resolution) and/or FM radio then ask yourself if that's worth an extra $50. If it is, go for the 2760.
It's that simple.

Yup.....thats true.....
What about reliability and performance?
Anyone familiar with these phones?
Also, the website is down and I need to find a 7-11 in Vancouver. I am on E. Broadway near Main. Is there one close?

I went to 5 7-11 stores in South Calgary this morning, and no one had any 2760 phones. my visit prompted them to order, and it will take a week to arrive 🙁
very poor planning, when they all have the advertising in store promoting the new deals.
I went to Midnapore, Queensland, Shawnessy, Somerset, Bridlewood. I gave up after this.
If anyone knows of 7-11 stores in Calgary who has the phones please post!!

Hi,
I picked up a Nokia 2760 today in Calgary. (Queensland store on Canyon Meadows Drive) The total cost was $150 + GST for the phone and $100 airtime package.
What is great is that I believe that the phone is unlocked. I was able to install my Fido SIM card in the phone and it was able to work with my FIDO number.
Unfortunately the 711 SIM card would not work in my FIDO phone.

What about them? Any comments you see here are going to be subjective, based on a small sample size and therefore inherently unreliable. Considering how new the 2769 is, even fewer will be by people who've had both phones for any appreciable period of time.
You can look at these reviews.

You can also Google on "Nokia 2760 review" and "Nokia 1600 review" to see what others have to say.

AFAIK all Nokia phones sold by 7-11 Canada for use with SpeakOut are unlocked.

"I just bought 2 Nokia 1600. The manager in the store told me that you can only get the $75 off a new phone deal if you purchase $100 denominations."
The manager is feeding you B.S. Last time this deal was on I visited a few different 7/11's and the managers/clerks all had different levels of knowledge of what's going on with this deal. One of them didn't know that I was supposed to get $75-off one of the other phones. I simply left and went to another 7/11.
There, I also told the manager I needed 2 $50 denominations and I got it. I'd advise people to shop around different 7/11 stores if they need this.
