Got a 1600 on King St. in Cambridge Friday afternoon. Got home and changed the phone number right away to my area... no charge. Went to make my first call only to find that my account was empty. I didn't want to activate my $100 yet. My initial start up (was told by dealer it was $10) was only $5. I called customer service and they put it back on my account. Very good CS reps. I only wanted a basic phone and this one seems to have all I need so far and a very good loudspeaker.

ok, so i downloaded a custom mp3 i made......onto my 2760. when i try to selct it as my ringtone it says "cannot be set as ringing tone""!! huh??? the phone has its own preloaded mp3's which are used as ringtones.
anyone know why this is happening?
It might require that mp3 ringtones are of a specific bitrate (or whatever it's called).
Also, please try to keep all phone questions to the Phone features forum.

7-11, Vaughan (GTA), Rutherford und Weston. Got 4 x $25 and Nokia 1600. Number is 647 (doesn't matter since I'm going to transfer my old Fido one).
Seems, they have a lot of them in stock.
1600 is not locked - at least it works with other SIMs (in Rogers network).
BTW, does anybody need new Nokia 1600?
Or $25 refills for $15 apiece? ;))
Like to buy your 1600 and 25$ refill. Let me know if u still have it. 4162885099 daytime.

how about the 1600, is it available around NW, Calgary?
I went to Citadel area and no phone available but they have the promo sign. Went back after 2 days still not available.
Will try to call other stores.

I agree with you. I had a search on this new phone around Calgary NW area (four locations), but couldn't find one. I am gonna check this phone on next week.

I went to 5 7-11 stores in South Calgary this morning, and no one had any 2760 phones. my visit prompted them to order, and it will take a week to arrive
very poor planning, when they all have the advertising in store promoting the new deals.
I went to Midnapore, Queensland, Shawnessy, Somerset, Bridlewood. I gave up after this.
If anyone knows of 7-11 stores in Calgary who has the phones please post!!

The Nokia 2760 made it to Toronto area stores this afternoon. Just picked up my silver and black version at 3:00 this afternoon. Looks like a very nice little phone (it is an upgrade to the current plan and costs $50 more). I got mine at the Rutherford Rd. 7-Eleven in Vaughan. I will post back how the reception, voice quality, etc...is when I get a chance to use it.

Just got my number ported, wooo hooo. One thing to watch for, the voicemail passcode on the sticker stuck to the nokia guide AND in the text message they send after porting your number may NOT be valid anymore. In my case, when they ported my number over, they also set the voicemail passcode to the same one I used with my other phone provider.... without telling me. I used up some time trying to set it up with the default passcode and finally called them to find out what is going on. She apologized for not letting me know (at least she didn't give me the run around like some of the larger co's). Ah well, not everything can go smoothly. Makes life interesting.
Other than that, kind of sounds like you're talking inside a tin can. Will have to test it out further.
I'll be using this Nokia 2760 as my main phone, so we'll see how long the minutes last with the timer starting as soon as you press Send.

Hello
I am thinking of eventually switching to Speakout, because I love the feature that any dollar amount you buy lasts a year. I only use my phone for emergencies, and only use it for about 5-10 minutes a month.
If I were to buy a phone now with the promotion going on (Preferably the Nokia 1600), can I just hang on to it, and use it when I am ready to switch. Or if I buy it now, do I have to activate the phone within a specified time frame?
Thanks!!
