Oh, and by the way, I had to call 4 different stores to find the phone in stock, seems they are all on order in Hamilton, Ontario and area. The one I finally got was in Cambridge and the young clerk argued with me that the promotion was only for a free phone. But luckily for me. armed with the info on this site I told her she was wrong and the Manager came to ring it in. I asked but they did not allow 2 X $50 but that is fine by me for this great deal!

Hi all,
Great info on this site!
I went and purchased for my wife the 2760 tonight but had to travel out of town because we don't have a 7 Eleven in my city.
can you guide me through the process to change the number to my city. It is the same area code but a long distance call to that city where I purchased from where I am.
Thanks

Thanks, I was not sure whether to call to activate then change the number or the other way around but one call did it all with no trouble and no fee!

Here are 2 questions. I live in Quebec City and I am thinking of driving to Ottawa to get this deal.

1) The Rogers network is pan-Canadian, so logic has it that I should be able to use this phone in Quebec City, right?
2) I have no current personal cell phone service. Will 7-eleven issue a new number with a Quebec City area code?

TIA everyone...and thanks for the site!

Quebec city should have good coverage, but check the network coverage maps on Rogers site to be sure. Then you can call SpeakOut wireless customer service and ask them that exact question (number is found on the home page of this site). It should be no problem to change the phone number to one that is local to your area - but confirm it with them first before buying.

I went to a 7-11 store in Richmond, BC, but was told the promo was over. Can any Vancouverite tell me if you bought one lately? Thanks!

The Canadian HO is local call for you from Richmond so why not give them a call and ask? Please post what they say here thanks.

Jasbir, with regards to the message you posted previously relating to using mp3s as ringtones on the 2760, can you confirm that the file format you were using in the Nokia multimedia player was .aac?

WHen I did that conversion and uploaded to my phone gives the error "file format unreadable." The default file save format in the Nokia software was .amr format which DOES work but sounds rather poor.

Anyone else been able to use .aac files on their 2760?

Thanks

Jeremy

Thanks Lus,

I just called customer service and they confirmed it is possible to have a Quebec City number. Now I just need to buy and activate it. I'll re-post once I have done so.

Once again, thanks.

Why drive from Quebec City to Ottawa for a 7-11 phone? You will also have to do that every time you need more air time.
Go to you local Petro Canada station and buy one of their phones. It operates on the same Rogers network. The only difference is that their air time last 180 days instead of 365, but it will save a lot of trips from Quebec City to Ottawa!!!

Anybody know if the deal is still on? Somebody seemed to think that the deal has ended already. Can someone confirm this?

Anybody know if the deal is still on?

Judging by the "Free phone with $100 airtime" banners at the front of all the 7-11 stores I've driven by, I'd say the deal is still on. But if you want authoritative confirmation why not phone a 7-11 store in your area (or go there in person)?
