I talked to the 7/11 store manager in Orangeville, and he said that the deal offered in Feb-Mar is different than the one that ended in December. He said that if you buy any Speak Out phone, you will either get(he talked fast, so he was a little hard to follow) 25 dollars off the purchase, or 25 dollars in free talk time, I wasn't sure which he was implying, but the important part was that it was only 25 dollars.. The upcoming deal definitely doesn't sound as good as the last deal offered. I hope he was wrong, but it doesn't sound like it.

Everyone interested in the upcoming deal should ask their closest 7-eleven for whatever details they have on the February deal. If there is conflicting answers(which I hope there is, I mean a free phone is better than $25 in free airtime). The guy in Orangeville was a little strange, but he spoke sort of authoritatively as if he knew for sure that's what the deal was. Maybe everyone could post what they find out, and we will go from there. I am in the same boat as the above poster, I sort of need a phone now, but am holding out for a sweet deal, but if it's only the $25 deal, than I might just break down and buy the phone now.

Spoke to staff at a local store in Richmond (BC). He pulled out a book of faxes from head office and showed me the scheduled deal starting in Feb. The deal is:
Buy a new phone and at least $25 in airtime and receive a $25 credit towards the cost of the phone.
The max credit applied against the purchase of the phone is $25 - buy $100 in airtime, still the same $25 credit towards the cost of the phone. (Or looked at another way, buy a phone and receive $25 in airtime free.)
Nowhere near as good as the deal which ended in December ($100 airtime yielded a free phone), but $25 isn't insignificant. I suspect they've clued into the fact this product is widely considered the best in class currently, so why give anything more away for free than is necessary to just maintain the momentum.
Still a good deal just given the 365 day expiration of airtime alone...

Extremely difficult to get a 416 number. Got my phone early December went to one 7-11 who had only 3 phones all 647 numbers, visited another who had 12 phones, the store clerk was kind enough to let me search through them to find a 416 but no luck.
I've heard that it is possible to find the odd 416 number but in general you're stuck with 647 numbers unless you transfer your existing 416 number which is what I did.

PetroCanada and 7-11 are run by the same company and last time I looked they have the identical long-distance policy.
Only real difference is that PetroCanada's airtime vouchers, with the exception of $100, are only good for 180 days.
If you drive a lot and use PetroCanada than they have one advantage in that you can use your Petro Points to buy air time.
