Whatever works for you & your husband, Sylvia - either plan with any of the phones are absolutely good deals!
I'd check out the fine print on your airtime expiry though - as far as I can tell from PC's website, it's only 180 days unless you buy a $100 voucher.
I'll be using my cell more often now - hubby & I used to do that "split" thing with one cell. If either of our sons needs to borrow one of our phones now (for checking in from a road trip or whatever), we'll still have a backup.
One caveat regarding the battery: avoid fully discharging a lithium-ion battery to prolong it's life. Unlike Ni-Cd batteries, lithium-ions' life is shortened every time you fully discharge them. Best to recharge when your meter shows one bar left. Lithium-ion batteries, like most rechargeable batteries have a set amount of charges in them. Leaving them in a hot car is not good, either...

Too late SO, I waited and waited and waited until my phone battery stopped charging and with no August promotion on the horizon I was forced to get into a 1 year contract with Rogers to get a replacement phone.
This is what happens SO when you dork around with promotions, you lose potential customers. Oh well, maybe next year.
Uhh... This promotion exactly the same as the one they ran last year. It's pointless to be angry at SO because someone posted incorrect guesses about upcoming promotions on internet forums.

Heh, I posted this back on June 9th, but nobody seemed to believe me. I spoke with the local 7-11 Manager, and she confirmed it.

On Wed. Aug 6, I bought a 5200 at Dunsmuir and Seymour 7-Eleven in Vancouver and also bought the $100 voucher.
Here's what my bill says.
$100 voucher
$149 (Nokia 5200)
-$74 promo
Subtotal $175
GST on $175 = 8.75
PST on $175 = 12.25
Total = $196
The phones are located behind the cashiers but only one cashier knew about the promo. I got the last 5200 that day but they said that they were getting more stock. Hope that helps.

Just to let people know that today I was able to trade 2 Brand New Nokia 1208 and the $1 or so price difference for one 5200
So for people like the above poster it would be better just to buy 2 Nokia 1208s
2 Nokia 1208s and $200 airtime = around $225
Just a Nokia 5200 and $100 airtime = around $200
** I dont know if all 7-elevens allow this you would have to ask the manager

Well I went with a store that knew what it was doing, ie knowledgeable about the promo. I called them on Tues. and they were out of stock--no phones at all. Called them the very next day and had only one phone, the 5200 in stock. I knew in my gut it was a returned product but I bought it anyway. Luckily, everything was there and in good condition.
More importantly, I read the SO pamphlet that came in the box, and I was crestfallen to read in the WHAT CAN'T I DO WITH MY PHONE? section: "Text 5-digit numbers (example: 55555)". Say this isn't so!!! This really sucks for me because I'm a student, car-less and rely on public transit daily. I was really hoping I could use their transit schedule service via SMS where you text the stop number to 33333. Looks like I'm stuck still wondering when the next bus will come. Aaaaaargggggh. I cannot believe my luck. I just spent $196 and activated the voucher already.

Try adding a + sign to the front of the number. It might work, as reported in this thread.

That should be fairly easy. In fact you probably wouldn't even need to buy 2 and then trade it in. Simply buy 2 x $100 vouchers and apply the two $74 credits towards the purchase of the 5200.

I called up my local 7-11, they said that you can't buy 2 x $100 vouchers and get the 5200 free.

But can you trade in two new $74 phones for a new $150 phone? Otherwise, buy the two airtimes, sell the second phone to your friend, take that money, add it to the first phone, make up the difference and turn all that in for the better phone. You still end up with a better phone and a better deal

Does anyone in the Vancouver area know any stores that still have stock? I've checked several with no luck
My advice: keep trying. It's not surprising that stock can be hard to come by. Especially the cheapest ones. For a couple of days, I just kept calling the stores closest to where I live because I live way uptown. I suggest calling the locations situated downtown, because that's where there is the largest concentration of them. The one store I am curious about is the one on Pender St in International Village/Tinseltown. I wonder if it's still in business because that mall complex has always been struggling. I haven't visited it in a full year and I forgot to ask about it when calling up the stores...
Anyway, ask to speak to the manager if you can, because they are probably in the know when new stock will arrive.
