I've been quite disappointed with the short battery life of the last Speakout phone I bought, the Acer Z220, which I must recharge after only about an hour of talk time. Needless to say, I've been looking forward to the next Free Phone promotion so I could get something better.
I used to buy my top-ups at out neighbourhood 7-Eleven, but started using the Speakout website figuring they'd show any promotions that were available locally.
Yesterday afternoon I went to the site for a $100 top-up. First, as usual, I checked the Promotions page, but saw no free-phone deals.
That evening I happened to stop at the store, and was surprised to see a banner out front: FREE PHONE WITH $100 TOP-UP! The guy at the counter even showed me one of the Blu Advances. The reviews I've read say it has an 8-hour (!) charge time. Wow—I'd sure rather be using one of those.
I contacted Speakout to find out what the heck was going on. They replied: "We're sorry, but this promotion is no longer available. However, some stores still have some of the phones..."
Does this seem as goofy to you as it does me? Am I actually being _penalized_ for using the website rather than driving to the store? Should we be warning people not to use the site, because they may miss something?

Unfortunate but there was a discussion here indicating some stores still had some stock. Obviously Speakout can't keep track of individual stores inventory, so I guees one needs to check and do some homework. Their new promotion is $50 off other phones. Did you see that??
I personally would just go buy another topup and get the phone if available. If you talk on the phone for an hour a day you will surely use the time up.
