I live in the BC Fraser Valley and called about a dozen stores to see if I could get one of the two phones that have a QWERTY keyboard, as I am mainly going to use my phone for texting. NO one had these phones...I hope as the promotion continues, the stores will get the phones. I've been waiting anxiously for it 🙂

Neither of those phones will work with SO. According to the Handset Guide for November 16 -- December 31, 2009 these are designed to work with Virgin, not SO. The current free phone promo doesn't apply to these phones.

iamdrumming,
Thanks for the 'heads up" on the free phone promotion. Your source has been extremely reliable. I see that a new phone (Nokia 2720) has been added, but it won't be available till December. The promotion date states that it is a "Limited Time Offer", so we don't know when this promotion will end. I wonder if your source can throw some light as to when this promotion might end, and if there is any way where we can take advantage of the $59 credit towards the Nokia 2720 when it becomes available in December. It would be awesome if SO will allow the $59 credit towards the Nokia 2720!.
Thanks for the great work that you do here! Much appreciated. 😎

You are very welcome 🙂
I was told the "get a phone for free" promotion will run until the end of the year. So, you would be able to get the Nokia 2720 when it becomes available in December, then apply the $59 off towards it. I would think each 7-Eleven retail store would allow the discount towards the 2720, but I would definitely call the individual store, and especially SpeakOut customer service just to be sure.

Anyone knows if I could get this offer, while buying 4 x $25 or 2 x $50 voucher?
Since the site said "FREE PHONE or get $59 off any speakout phone when you buy $100 airtime..."
No $25 bonus airtime of course.
I'm also wondering if it's possible to split up the airtime vouchers? A $25 and a $75 voucher would be ideal. Has anyone done this in the past?

I've had problems getting through to customer service today. I bought the 2760 this morning and I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Should have probably got the basic $59 one. Can't figure out how to setup voice mail (pressing 1 and holding it down does NOT result in any voice prompts). Called customer service 4 times and got disconnected each time, right after the male voice recording said I was being transferred to customer service. So I sent them an email and I hope to hear back soon. Anyone else try to get hold of them today?

It's up to the individual store. Some stores will allow it, but some stores can't be bothered to print multiple vouchers, and will just print a single $100 voucher.

Thanks to the info from this site I held out for the past 2 weeks with no more than 20 cents remaining in my phone in order to take advantage of the promo. Well worth it, I quite like this 2760. Very light and basic. LIke the FM radio too, works great (although remembering to bring the cord along won't work).
Question: anyone knows which cable to use to download the pics? I have 2 or 3 such cables from old Nokia phones. Anyone knows if I can download straight to a Mac or must I use a PeeC for this?
The wife got the slim, black free phone. I like it too but it has no camera. Either way we got a bunch of minutes, 2 nnew phones for a mere $220 including gst (no sales tax in AB)

I ve been following the forum since last month & had deferred my purchase for today upon the heads up of the promotion ... Brought the 2760 ... They have reduced it to 75/- from 90/- and it has web browsing + blue tooth ..... Out of the 1661 / 1208 .. both of which are free ,from the first impressions , I felt the 1661 was better built .

I got the 2760 last July, and while there is a spot for a cable, it is not meant to be used for transferring pictures or ringtones. You have to use Bluetooth, so I ordered a generic Bluetooth USB PC adapter for about $15 from NCIX. Something like that should work with Macs too.
I also just bought a $70 Nokia BH-606 Bluetooth headset from the Source with a 30% off coupon, and it will have only cost $20 after a $30 mail-in rebate.
