I've been under the impression that my account balance with speakout has been dropping unusually fast compared with the months up to now. Today I made sure to check my balance before and after a couple text-messages and found that, instead of the usual 5 cents per text, I was being charged 10 cents. This was a message sent from Coquitlam to a recipient in Vancouver.

I did two messages: before the first I had a balance of $6.42, then immediately afterwards it was down to $6.32. The next message put me down to $6.17, but I received a text message inbetween.

I used to get incoming text messages free and outgoing cost 5 cents per. Is something funny going on with my account or have the rates changed

I have friends who have had similar problems in south Fraser area with their Rogers network phones. They were still KM's from the border but the signal was picked up by cell towers on the USA side.

I have a Rogers pay-as-you-go account that charges $0.40 per minute. My friend has a Speakout account and I assumed he was paying $0.20 per minute. We mostly talk with each other. In April he bought a $50 top-up that I thought would last him at least four months based on the amount he uses the phone. He just got a message saying he has only a couple of minutes left. I added up my calls to his number during that time, and it's under $50. Unless there's something weird with his phone, it looks as if he's being charged $0.40 per minute.

Toronto here. Just made a test voice call and my cost was twenty cents.
