I've noticed this happen twice with their $20.00 promotion on the $35 - 100 Talk Mins + SMS + 500MB Data plan. When I added the plan, it billed the account for $35.00, and I had to call in to get the $15.00 credited back. Then I did not check the account until it did not renew when there was a $27.00 balance. I called and was told I needed a min balance of $35.00 to renew, but my balance would reflect the $15.00 discount on the promotion that was still in effect at that time once I topped it up. Today I checked, and again although my account was eligible for the promotional price subsequent to the top-up, I was billed the $35.00, and had to call again to get my $15.00 credit.
I was also told that now the promotion has ended, the account will be billed $35.00 on the next renewal. The first time this error happened I thought that it was a system glitch. When it happened again, I suspect it is a deliberate attempt by Speakout to make money by being dishonest. (Think of all the people that will simply lose their credit because they don't check their account balances because they assume Speakout is honest. This probably represents a significant cash windfall for Speakout). This latter factor is what is going to have me switch carriers when my balance runs out, in my mind Speakout seems to be a pretty questionable operator for pulling these sorts of stunts.

They seem to be getting 'sharper' over time. I used to think Speakout was a great deal, but after hearing stories like this one I have to re-evaluate.
For example today I activated a voucher that I had lying around for a while. I was waiting until I had a new phone to use it with. The voucher was for $100 + $25 bonus. When I activated the voucher, finally, I only got the $100 airtime. Where is the bonus? Does it expire? They will probably tell me it does.
Also I topped up $50.00 on a different phone and placed one outgoing phone call (39 seconds) and one text message so far. Yet my balance is now at $48.90. Ok, so 10 cents for the text and 25 cents for the call. That should put me at $49.65
Where did the missing airtime go?

Seeing that there is $0.45 missing, it looks like you made a long distance call.
I agree that Speakout is not as good as it once was though. And the $100 bonus deal is a bit of a rip off. At one time, Speakout gave you a $25 bonus card with your $100 purchase. The current system is just plain chintzy.
