It's on for next month and basically forever if you ask right.

It's because if you'd buy a $50 phone, you'd get a $20 discount on airtime. So basically instead of having to buy the phone, they give you a $20 discount on airtime, which is probably cheaper for SO to offer than selling you a subsidized phone.

FYI: it seems that the national PHONE purchase promotion ('Prm $20OffSOw$50AT4x' on corresponding receipts) was misunderstood and transacted at a minority of 7-11s (in multiple provinces and regions) due to inadequate/incomplete wording on official promo' correspondence sent to stores.

FWIW: I hope that no 7-11 staff lose their jobs because of that (or due to related RFDer activities thereafter).

jackie999, my points are that:

* this wasn't a new or regional "promotion" (yet this thread repeatedly indicated it likely was)

* some RFDers have hugely taken advantage of a mistake (and the few stores/people unwittingly making it)

* SO and/or 7-11 might now need to react accordingly (to recover or write-off their corresponding loss/es)!

Subsequently getting bonus air time from that is shameful exploitation IMO, not entitlement!

This isn't exploitation, at least not to the clerk who had to explain to me for five minutes how this promotion worked, of which, made perfect sense to him, not so much for me.
