Hi all, this has probably been asked before but quick search couldn't find it.
A got the free sim in current promo, activated it, got a crummy number.
Not adding any airtime yet so balance is $0.
When will the sim get deactivated? I thought I read somewhere it was 7 days, but hope it will be 45 days according to faq at $0?

13a. What happens if my airtime expires or my balance reaches $0?
If your balance reaches 0 but your expiry has not been reached, you cannot use the phone until airtime is added. If the expiry date is reached, you have an additional 7 days before the remaining balance is removed. They are required to give you 7 days by Canadian law (see http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/info.....ht/t14.htm).
You have 45 days to add airtime after the expiry date is reached; otherwise the SIM card will become void (and your phone number will be re-assigned) and you need to buy another Speak Out SIM card.

--start rant--
Brutal. Sat tried several hours. Sun tried serveral hours. Trying to get cust service keeps hanging up on me whenever I get to a phone menu choice to "talk to customer service".
So today Monday since insanity = trying same thing and expecting different results, I call in picked "report network outage". Got through!! whoa!!
The girl told me that from activation of new sim, I have 30+45 days to add airtime before the sim gets deactivated. When I explained why I didn't want to add airtime (got crummy number), she said she could change the number for me once, but I had to call back with landline, since she can't do it with me dialing 611 from the cell phone with new sim. No mention of a fee, sounded like she would do it for me once for free.
So I call back on landline, kept getting hung up after waiting and picking "speak to cust service".
Called back, picked "report network outage. Got through!! whoa!!
The 2nd girl then told me to change the number it will cost me $10. I then said forget it and hung up.
Dial back in, chose "report network outage", got through, hoping to get the 1st helpful girl.
Got guy. I didn't trust what anyone says at this point so asked him to clarify what is what.
--end rant--
So based on all these calls, I am guessing the following:
1) on new sim activation, I have 30 days to top up or I will "lose" my 0 balance.
2) then I have another 45 days to top up or I will lose my phone number and sim rendered useless.
3) changing phone number will cost me $10
I'm gonna leave it for 75 days and see if this all true. Will update thread in 2+ months.
In meantime, if you want to speak to someone, hit "report network outage" whoa!!
