Hi all,
First off, I'd like to say thankyou to "Peter's Useful Crap" for starting that block and allowing me to find this forum (not sure if the person who started the blog also started this forum but thanks).

I have a few short Qs hopefully someone can help me.
I have looked through the FAQs and a few pages of the forum and not sure so I will ask here. I have been trying to keep track of what/how I am getting charged and for what so i will be able to use my phone more effeciently. These are the Qs I have yet to:

1. When I phone *777 do I get charged for it?

2. If I call or someone calls me for 10 sec do I get charged the full minute?

3. If someone calls me - and hangs up before Voice Mail do I get charged? if so how much

I think thats it.

FTR, I got the $100 with free Nokia phone so I started out with about $127 to start all together.

Thanks again

Cheek

1. no- call is free
2. yes
3. no charge in the case you mention.

U should have had $130 on your new phone - $5 airtime credit all new phones have plus $100 airtime which is grossed up to $125 (SO's way of giving you $.20 local calls instead of $.25 which $25 & $50 topups get)

Good Luck 🙂

thanks so much.
I am newbie (well havent used one in a while) for cell phones - and just getting used to this one.
I have a couple blackberries that I can use (Rogers) but I like how small this one is.

If you can, do you know how to make that (not sure what its called) script writing to default to type the characters i punch instead of that "learn" feature. I know I can change by hitting the # button but its a pain to do it every time before I start texting.

thanks so much.

Sorry,
forgot one thing - I read where if I call the 1-8XX number from my landline to retrieve my Voice mail there is no charge. Is that true?

thanks again

That is true. You are not charged airtime if you are checking your voicemail from a landline. You just have to call your cell number to access your voicemail from a landline. No toll-free number is required, unless you want to do it that way. 🙂

As far as I remember, you hit the # button when the message comes on. It will then ask you for your pass code. Soon as you enter your pass code, it will tell you how many message you have.

great thanks

and for any other newbies with the 1208, I found this great link from the phones section at the top of this board/forum.

Its a great user friendly manual - wished I would have found it sooner.

Thanks to whomever made it:
