After running to three different 7 eleven, I finally got my free phone...
The location closest to me in downtown Calgary is all sold out on phones.
They are the only store that I have seen that has the promotion, and the better model for 90 bucks. The other stores that I have gone to only has the 1208 for free. One other store has two 1208, but they were not aware of the promotion yet this morning when I went over. I finally went over to this store on 16th ave ne, and got my free cellphone around 17:00... It was definitely nice to finally have it... I am interested in buying the more advanced model for 90 bucks though... So I will check out the downtown location again to see if they have phones coming in...

Does anyone know by when after purchasing the phone do I have to activate it? I haven't put the new SIM- card in the phone yet, as I first want to deplete my rogers airtime (which will take some months). Can I activate my phone in like one year or later or do I have to do it within 3 months of purchase or within 365 days?

The phone (or rather the SIM) activates the first time you use it, however, the airtime vouchers expire 90 days after purchase. You have 3 months to use up your Rogers airtime but then you must add airtime using your voucher.
Suggestion: Temporarily move your Rogers SIM into your new SO phone. Make sure the new phone works. If it doesn't you can return it for a replacement without activating your SO SIM.

Success. I found a 2760 at Henderson and McCivor in Winnipeg.I was also able to get the $100 split into 75(lower minute charge)and 25. Other locations had said no. I politely asked if they could try it on the machine and see if the offer was accepted. It was accepted. Thanks to this forum my wife and I now have 2 low use phones purchased over the last 15 months.

Anyone know the return policy for 7-eleven? I have an unactivated phone that I need returned since I received one already as a present, but had already bought the phone earlier in the day while at school. So the question is for the phone and the $100 voucher. I know the voucher says non-refunadable on the Speak Out website, but the wording made it seem like that was only if you activated the voucher already.

However you can...
1. Apply the $100 airtime voucher from the returned phone to the phone/SIM that you keep. You have 90 days to do that, so in effect you have 15 months to use up the $200.
-or-
2. Sell either the extra airtime or the phone or the SIM or any combination privately on this forum. Even if you sell the individual pieces at a discount, the total could well exceed the $100 you paid.

Bylo is right, I wouldn't worry too much about returning the phone and airtime.
If you think you'll be using more than $100 of airtime over the next year, even if you'll be using anywhere from $80-$100/year, then just add the airtime you bought to the phone you're going to keep so you'll have $200 of airtime to use on it, and then sell the SIM and phone afterwards. You should be able to get at least $20 for the SIM or $30+ for both of them.
If you think you're airtime usage will be VERY minimal over the next year (as in WAY less than $100) then you can sell the airtime card as well. Heck, you might even find someone willing to buy the whole thing off you in January for the same price, or more, than what you paid for it.

I just purchased a 1208 and 2760 in Toronto from a 7-11
at Lakeshore and 24th.
I was surprised when informed that they would not accept a
credit card payment for anything over $50 !
I think you must have run into someone trying to save money on merchant credit card fees and is totally incorrect in his request - this policy they are trying to impose is likely in violation of their merchant agreement with either Visa or Mastercard - I have never heard of this kind of policy - usually it is the other way around - they give you a hard time if you want to use a credit card for a small token amount. It seems in a lot of cases now stores also want to see some picture ID when you go to use your credit card - not necessarily 7-11 as this has never happened to me but Rona and Canadian Tire do. If you get asked to do this again, I would ask to speak to the store manager or have them phone their Regional Manager - what do you do if you buy gas at 7-11 and the bill is over $50 (most likely)?? use credit card for first $50 and pay cash for balance - makes no sense 🙁

If any of you know any 7-11 store in GVRD still has the promo phone, please kindly let me know. Thanks.
PS. Burnaby and New West locations are preferred
