I did this yesterday in Toronto downtown at Bay & Richmond. They had one 5200 left. If you go for it, be sure to inspect it. It seemed to me that the top of the keypad was loose. Good luck.

Has anyone had luck buying two $100 vouchers and getting a 5200 for free? The cashier said they could not do that this time around... true/false?

Hi mjbad2,
Can you send me that store's phone number to "kenjliang@gmail.com" ? I want to call them first before I go there. It is the nearest store to my place, and still far. So I don't want to wast time to drive there and get nothing.
Thank you in advance.
Ken

Look at the Phone Exchange forum. You will find sim cards there.

at YoungEglinton lots of 2760/1680.
But they don't give on CC without ID. I never heard anybody asking for ID at Canadian Tire/Petro Canada etc.
Asking for ID with credit card seems to be starting at a number of places - I live in Penticton and the Canadian Tire & Rona stores do, Walmart even asked the other day (maybe as purchase over $100) first time asked there; my son in Surrey had Home Depot ask for ID there - local 7-11 doesn't??

Just ask them to show you the clause in the Merchant Agreement they have with VISA or MasterCard that requires them to see your ID. Guess what, there isn't one. In fact most Merchant Agreements expressly forbid the merchant from requiring anything more than the credit card itself. That includes that other favourite, your phone number.
Tell the store manager that if they insist on supplementary documentation, not only will you not do business with them but you will also report them to VISA or MasterCard. Make sure to record the manager's name as well as the date/time and related data to include with your complaint.

What's the big deal with stores asking to see some ID when you use a credit card?
Fortunately, things have shifted in recent years in favour of the credit card holder if there is any dispute with a credit card - which is great news. But that also means that the merchant will be out of pocket and screwed over.
Compare that to years ago when you had to argue your case to your credit card company and try to prove that it wasn't you that made the purchase.
I much prefer things today, and if that means that merchants need to check ID every so often, then so be it.
Whenever crooks try to buck the system, it's the average person that gets screwed, either by higher prices, stores not accepting credit cards anymore, etc etc.

You have no clue what you are talking about. Your theory can be applied to any item like search, DNA, prints, enter home, etc..etc.. Why you need warrants?
I will stop here as it the topic will be dragged in a pit.
I received reply from Speakout that they don't have such policy and they are checking. Waiting reply from Visa.

What's the big deal with stores asking to see some ID when you use a credit card?
The big deal is that it's none of their business! Worse, why should I trust them with my personal information? After all my driver's license, SIN (yes, the bozos have asked for that), etc. can be used by one of their employees in conjunction with my credit card number to steal my identity and commit fraud against me. No thanks!
The whole purpose of a credit card is that it's a self-contained piece of ID that allows you to buy stuff without cash in hand. The credit card company vouches for me by way of that card. If a merchant suspects something is wrong with that card then they are free -- indeed required by their Merchant's Agreement -- to call the card company. They are not free -- indeed proscribed from -- to ask me for other ID.
And yes, part of the fees that merchants pay the CCs and that some of us pay in interest is used to pay for breaches in security, just as part of the taxes you pay to the government pays for policing. However, that hardly justifies the creation of a police state or other such measures that violate our privacy and basic freedoms.
WADR it's people who submit to merchant's arbitrary requests for information they don't need that leads to an attitude of entitlement on their part and complacency such as yours.
Sorry for the rant, but you pressed one of my hot buttons.

You have obviously never been a victim of fraud yourself. Believe me it is no picnic. It took me a year and a half and countless hours and much frustration to clear up a messy situation a few years ago. And during the holiday season when clerks are overworked and overstressed is the prime time for such thieves to hit. Go through it once or know someone that has and you would change your tune.

Let's stop the credit card ID discussions there. If anybody wants to continue arguing about it, you can take the send each other IMs (I love forum registration!).
Regarding the Nokia 1680, I've seen threads mentioning that people have already started buying it.
+1
Already available at Young/Eglinton store. 1 EGLINTON AVE EAST.

Is Nokia1680 available? The Seven-Eleven site states Dec 15 is day one for it.
I'm so pissed with 7-11 right now. On their website link when you click on the free phone offer with 100.00 purchase of airtime I get the new black 1680 Nokia come up as the free phone. Customer service is saying at first that it is a misprint and after speaking with another customer service agent and then the manager James, he said he does not see the 1680 as the phone that is coming up but rather the 1208 cheaper phone.
I think this is a misleading scam and don't fall for it. Once u r at the 7-11 its easy to just accept the scam and go with the cheaper phone but I didn't. Too bad they wont admit to this.
Here is the link I am talking about.

Tell me what you guys see when you click on the free phone link with 100.00 purchase of airtime. At this point they have no credibility with me.
Take Care
