This is strictly a poll, not a comment discussion thread. I would like to ask the moderators to delete any 'conversations' that arise out of this poll. In adding your details, you're allowed to add a comment, but you are not allowed to address others in this thread.
For this poll you will enter:
1. How long you had service with speakout. If you got service with speakout strictly to take advantage of the 'data' plan within the last three months, simply just indicate 'Here for the data'
2. Your model of phone. If you have a Speakout phone purchased to use with your service please add "SO" to the tag of your phone. ie: "SO Nokia 5130" or "iPhone" (SO never sold iPhones)
3. Did/Do you subscribe to the official $10 UMB plan and were you able to take advantage of the unlimited data? Are/were you still able access 'premiere level' services, before, after the service bonus?
4. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being really pissed off, how angry are you that the 'bonus' service was cut off?
5. How likely are you to continue with $10UMB now that there is no UMD? 10 is very likely, 1 is not likely at all.
6. Your comments
I'll start off.
1. User since 2008
2. SO Nokia 5130
3. Tried UMB on the 5130, wasn't really worth it. I have a nokia N8 now, but with WIFI everywhere, I really don't need data and don't need to be that connected.
4. Scale of 1 to 10, maybe a 3.
5. 2/10 for me to subscribe to a data plan, it would have to be a per/kb plan similar to the per minute voice plan. If I really need to be connected to get email updates for certain important notifications, I'd pay the per/kb fee. Granted, one must be very careful as to how often their smartphone will connect to the cloud, as their phones can incur data usage that they are not aware of.
6. I don't want to pay a monthly fee for something that I may or may not use within that month for minutes/kb that doesn't get rolled over into the next month? That goes against the principle of what a 'prepaid' plan is. Prepaid plans are meant for people with self control and want to manage their spending habits, not for people who want an unlimited plan for a pittance.

1. Since December 2010
2. iPhone 3GS (IOS 5)
3. Had UMB from the beginning - really enjoyed it for the 3 months of "real" data - phone was fully functional. It is still quite good, but not like before.
4. 3/10. Disappointed but not surprised. It was never advertised as a data plan
5. 0/10. I will stay subscribed to UMB until my balance runs out in 7 months. If SO doesn't have a data plan by then I am switching to Rogers.
6. Once you taste real data, it's hard to go back to UMB.

1. User since 2010
2. Robbers Nokia C3 unlocked
3. Been on UMB since I started with SO, never needed the "bonus" stuff so wasn't even aware it was there.
4. 0 - doesn't bother me at all
5. 10 - I'll be staying with UMB indefinitely it's damn good value I think.
6. I'm fine with just browsing, I can do everything I need to do through that route, so this plan works great for me. No plans to switch anywhere else, looking for a better phone though.

1. Happy SO User since last fall on 2 phones
2. Phone 1 – Unlocked AWS Android phone (Huawei from Wind)
Phone 2 – Doro Easy phone – no internet, just voice and messaging
3. First I tried the UMB for a month and decided browsing alone wasn't worth $10 to me. Later I signed up again when I heard it was full data and kept renewing while it lasted. Cancelled again recently when data ended.
4. 0 – I'm disappointed but not angry. Everyone likes a freebee, but I don't feel SO owes me anything more than they promised.
5. 2 – Probably not – unless I take an extended trip away from WiFi and want to get my emails.
6. It was great while it lasted. But, like I said, $10 for data is worth it to me, but not if it's just UMB. It's too inconvenient logging in to gMail with a browser. Plus the data supports my exercise app (Endomondo) which I use nearly every day. I don't use much data so a severely limited or throttled amount for $10 would be fine for my needs.

1. more than a year
2. samsung captivate (Samsung Galaxy I) then switched to iphone 4 (ios5)
3. I always have the $10 UMB plan, and I was very happy that I could do whatsapp
4. 9. no more whatsapp, no more notification.
5. 5.
6. still have $40 credits, after that I might be switching to Rogers paygo (with real data) but 100mb for $10 is a bit expensive.

1. Been with SpeakOut for years.
2. SO Nokia 1208. SO Nokia 5130. Also use an unlocked T-Mobile Motorola W233.
3. Never subscribed to the unlimited browsing feature.
4. On the scale of 1-10 of being "pissed off", -100 because the unlimited data was free and I never paid for it at all. It was a true bonus. I would never complain about something I got for free.
5. If I get a smartphone like an iPhone in the future, then I might hook up with the unlimited browsing feature, but not until then.
6. In regards to this thread. No one was cheated. You all received something you did not pay for, and weren't expecting. Just be grateful you had it at all, and stop complaining about something you got for free. SpeakOut has always been a low frills 2G provider.

Late but I recently readded and was disappointed..
1. 1year
2. Android LG-eve rooted
3. I loved being able to have full data access without proxy software
4. 1000 - Data is data wether its browsing data communication on different ports. IT IS BS this was ever cutoff, but providers are always milking for ever $
5. 1, I reinstalled proxy software to make it work (if I really want it like for maps on vacation )but other then that nope
6. Like I said data is data, you should not screw with every byte. Eventually there will be be better workarounds. ICS is supposed to pay better attention to the proxy in the apn so maybe that will work better.

1. 3+ years
2. Samsung Captivate
3. Subscribed UMB once Speakout made it available
4. 1. Data was nice while it lasted but no big deal UMB is perfectly fine.
5. Autoproxy / Proxydorid works fine for almost every useful apps out there (Gmail, Maps/Nav, Whatsapp).
6. I like Speakout to continue offering UMB for $10. You can't find another deal like this besides Petro Canada.
My monthly bill is
$10 UMB
$1.55 for 911
couple of dollars for voice
=
less than $15 (taxes included) a month.

1. Many years (5 or 6?) with Speakout. Only recently signed on for the unlimited browsing after upgrading to Android smartphone. I have now taken the 200 minutes/month with unlimited texting and unlimited browsing for $35 per month.
2. Samsung Galaxy S II LTE (unlocked). Not a speakout Phone
3. Was not subscribed at the time in order to use the unlimited "data". Not sure what constitutes "premiere level" service, but it appears I only have browser access. Many aps such as email, navigation, etc. do not work.
4. 8/10. Not upset that it was cut off as it was never part of the deal. I do strongly wish that I could get it even if it meant a modest price increase and/or throttling to make sure useage is not excessive. I would rather have full data (throttled as necessary to prevent excess usage) than unlimited browsing only.
5. 1/10. Without a full data plan, the chances that I will change providers is very high. There is just too much on the smartphone that does not work and I'm willing to pay some extra for it. MTS has a decent unlimited data plan that even includes a modest amount of roaming. Rogers is ridiculously expensive for data.
6. Any data plan I get will likely be unlimited. Not that I want/need huge amounts of data, but I don't like surprises and there is just too much chance of a runaway ap and a HUGE phone bill with many of the non-unlimited plans. I would gladly accept throttling as necessary to control overall usage in return for a modestly priced unlimited plan.
