Thanks for the tip. When I ordered this online, I noticed an additional $1 charge from 7-11 on my credit card. Is that normal? (My first time topping up online).

Thanks!

That $1 charge is normally put on as a pending transaction. It's common in the credit card industry. Basically it's just a way that a company uses to see if a card is legit or not, or has sufficient credit.
For instance, I just bought some concert tickets, and a $1.00 charge was added to the transaction, but disappeared after a few days.

Thanks. Its a new cc - the website seems to also show temporary charges as well. That's probably what it is.

I was also planning to wait till the end of april, but "topping up" online automatically adds it to your account immediately.

I'm tempted, but I still have $54 on my phone and my expiry is in August. Since I only use about $60 a year, I'll have too much on my balance again.

Think they'll do it again next year? Is this a once a year kind of thing?

Who knows. We'll find out next year.

This offer was also available last fall, it seems to run at least twice a year!
when you top up your expiry date also changes!

Hi. I need some clarification on this promotion. Normally, I use about $50 per year. If I buy this $100 voucher, will my account be shown as $125 or will the calls be charged at 20c/min for a year? In the first case, I will be able to carry over the following year (ie. 2014) this additional bonus $25 (which is not bad); in the second case, I may be able to carry over an additional $10 or so (not that appealing).

I need to know within the next 8-10 days, as I have to renew my airtime.

Thanks

Your account will be shown as $125. You cannot carry over the following year. In other words, you can not "stack" expiry dates. Your new expiry date will be 1 year from the day you top-up. All top-ups are for a year.

You are in the same situation as me. I started with SO when the 5130 first came out (does anybody remember if that was 2008 or 2009?

When I bought the phone, it was the buy $100+25 airtime and get 50% off the phone. Including the additional $5 airtime on the card plus 2 $10 refferal bonus top ups, I've *never* ever refilled the phone since then with anything other than a $25 credit, and I still have $50 to go till my august expiry.

So at this rate if you are like me, you will be buying a $100 bonus voucher every four years.

Thanks for the feedback. Exactly this is what I was thinking. Putting a $100 credit now so that I have a healthy buffer and then renewing at (hopefully) $25 for the next 2-3 years. It appears though you did so a few years back, could someone confirm this is still the case?

Hi iamdrunmming... probably, I did not make myself clear. Let me rephrase it. I buy this $100 now, I get a credit of $125. Let's assume I only spend $15 this year until next March at what time I renew it with $25. Then I should have $135 credit (110 carryover + 25 the new voucher). Is this correct?

Or in other words, is this 'bonus' real credit that can be carried over if it is not spent this year? I understand that one has to renew at least once a year.

Oh ok I understand now

Yes, the credit on your account always rolls over when you top-up. Keep in mind that there is $1.25 deducted per month for the 911 fee.

Yes, I know that... as it happens the $15 above in my scenario above would just cover the 911 charge.

When do you think they will have this promo next?

I have $250 on the account and will most likely use another hundred dollars within a year or more, but don't really want to have that much money sitting in case another provider comes to town and want to jump ship.

No one knows when the next promotion will run unfortunately. Just keep an eye out on the nearest 7-Elven or the official site.

I opened my account with a $25 voucher and added the $100+$25 bonus to it today. I should be good for a year with this amount. Sure hope they run a promo again in time to top up the account.
