What's Roger's toll free line? Does it work for PetroMobil phones too? I've been dialing m y own number from a landline to reach voice mail.

The other big news is that Voice Mail is now marked as "free - new!"
I take that to mean that VM is now free to pick up from your phone, which would be great.
That would be awesome. Not that is is that big of a hassle walking over to a payphone to use roger's toll free line.
Has anyone called to verify this assumption? I'd do it but I already spent 30 minutes with them to verify the text message change text.

If they change the bonus of $75 and $100, and shorten the expiry date for others, then people would go to President Choice mobile, who charge only $0.20/min flat, but shorter expiry date (30, 60 days). They also have US roaming, MSM, etc.
The only reason I'm interested in SO is it's a GSM, which means I can use local SIM card easily with the phone if I need to.

If you look at the world of land line and high speed internet, at least here in Vancouver, it's coming down a lot! Because of the competition, the wireless plans are getting more and more attractive when you renew. I wonder when the prepaid market can start to follow suit?
Anyway, the low usage prepaid market costs the carrier almost nothing to run, why not reduce the rate to attract more people who had not use a cell phone in the past? like the grand parents or some very young kids?
Just some thoughts and complain I guess.:???:

Are they?
Shaw upped their high-speed internet to 35$ from 32$, and they are trying to take out of business novus, which unfortunately only servers downtown, otherwise I would've been with them a long time ago.

Another alternative is Petro Canada mobile. everything similar except the $0.25 rate to SO. the same 365 expiry, I believe. They also have the bonus petropoints, too.
Petro Canada Mobility only has the 365 day expiry on the $100 top-up voucher. The other amounts last anywhere from 30 days to 180 days. With SpeakOut, any top-up lasts 365 days. That is a HUGE advantage over the competition, and in my opinion, one of the few things they have over the competition.

When is the 99 cent monthly fee charged? Today is Nov 01 and I only have 40 cents left on my phone, which expires on July 2010. I'd like to hold out till Nov 16 and get the $100 promo with the free phone, hopefully one that has a camera. I can go another 2 weeks without using the phone (unless the 99c is still coming in the next few days and put me under). I'm a very light user and would much rather extend my expiry date by another year (giving me almost 2 years). At the same time I don't want to go out and purchase a $25 voucher if I can help it.
Ideas appreciated.

Just got off the phone with customer service and was told that my .99 fee was deducted on Nov 01 and that I should be safe till the 16th. Forgot to ask if that applies to everyone but he did ask for my phone number so I'm not sure if it is on the first of the month for everyone or if I just happen to have activated my phone on the 1st day of the month back then.
And he did confirm that receiving text messages to be free. The race is now on for which will arrive first: the new SO phones or the new 27" iMac I just ordered.

Unfortunately, it's already a close call for me and SpeakOut: at the "effective" rate of 20¢ per minute, I'm pretty close to a Virgin Mobile $20 / 200 Mins plan (that I quit to switch to SpeakOut)... so if they've cut the cord on the 25% bonus with >$75 vouchers, I will look elsewhere after my airtime runs out.
