Hi guys…
this site is so great for users who is going to do porting.. (because FAQ of either PC and seven eleven is way too brief, especially about porting.. but i could get all the info i need from this website.. and all the info about the prepaid industry (virtual service provider).. thanks for that…
but i have left with some dilemma about selecting service provider between seven eleven speak out (SO)
and PC mobile (PC)… because.. it seems that.. there is pro and cons..
I don't use cellphone with any text message and i don't use voice talk a lot, and i only use for emergency, or very urgent needs. So, only my consideration will be related to cents for minutes and roll over of time for left over minutes by topping ups (extending periods of left over), and any monthly deductions..

So, I compared both services by information that presented their each websites.
For PC, they charge 0.20cents per minutes for anytime users. (Speak Out charge 0.25cents)
and they have all different expiry date for pop ups, but PC gives 365 days for 100 top ups.
(others amounts like 60days, and 30days.. etc..)
no access fee, no activation fee, and this below two is somewhat give more positive view to me (which somewhat attractive.)..
1. they don't charge 9-11 fee in bc. (Speak Out charges about $1.25 per month, i think it's because they use rogers wireless network.(Rogers is a company with the most horrible service mind on earth..).so for one year, you lose 60 air minutes ($1.25 = 5minutes, 5 x12=60minutes) with Speak Out, so actual time you will get 340 minutes from spending 100 bucks at speak out service..)
2.PC gives you more extra time you to top up, they gives 240days, Speak out only 45 days..
3.It's good for previous BELL users with locked bell phone, so you can use locked bell phone with
PC anytime (prepaid) service with it. (without unlocking, people in redflagdeals , saying that Samsung Gio from bell works with PC sim cards)

positive part of Speak Out is..
1. you can top up through website (well, both service provider allows you top up from your cellphone by using credit card… but speak out allows you to do more through your desktop computer..)
2.they provides 365 days roll over for each all specific top up amount..
3.It's good for user with locked rogers phone, so you can use the phone without unlocking..
(I concluded this from information from web surfing and through this website.)

At this point, BELL seemed more attractive to me, but that was just before i check some reputation of PC mobile at
http://www.cellphones.ca/cell-...../carriers/
(PC mobile got 4 out of 10.. it gave me shock.. because point that rogers got at the website seems very make sense to me for sure.. and rogers got 3 out 10, check the number of people participated to marking the service quality of rogers. lol; compare to number of participants to mark other service, a lot of people marked rogers service, and if you see reviews about rogers at website or either any other websites in internet (even including support board in rogers.com, people are saying that they don't want to speak to customer service representatives through phone..because they lie to customer, and give wrong info, and change things in account without permission and there are some guys kept answer to questions by kept saying "they're not the employee of rogers" lol, i think they're and they're almost only one that asking people to phone to their worst customer service center) .. lol; People just want to kill rogers. no joke, i even had to experience slamming issue with rogers, and their customer service representatives lies to customer, they even do some fraud, you could only solve problem by filing BBB or CCTS, and then the head of customer service office of rogers will contact you, but the guy is also not that helpful that much, you'll have to pick and tell him every single problem with your account to him. lol (he even acted as graceful person at the point where he didn't even solve problem, lol, and he don't work automatically, he don't complete work by himself alone.. lol you have to tell every single problem to him, and you'll have to find all the hidden problem they've created to your account, you better receive paper bill, because, i couldn't have find the contract issue if i didn't check the paper bill.. the guy will send you paper bill , but they'll charge you 2 dollar, on the bill, he removed the all fault service change (which was totally illegal service change), and give you one month free and he will acted as everything solved, but he didn't let me know about the hidden illegal contract change part. You'll have to find yourself.) He even failed to find out about their service representative putted me with 3 year contract which was without my permission, and i didn't order any hardware, i didn't do renew or enter new contract and i haven't heard anything from them, lol; and they just changed my contract and service plan of my account without my permission, no joke. lol what the guy in head of customer service center said was.. "Oh there was an error, data of your account has 3 years of contract with no hardware" lol; so funny isn't it? who would do 3years contract without getting new hardware? and with extreme horrible service provider rogers for 3 year? for what reason? lol; and they did that to customer who used their service for a decade… lol; they're kept saying " no intentional" (if i just did online billing and did a automatic credit card payment, i could have not known the issue, because they don't let you know about the issue.. it's somewhat famous to rogers.), and then how could they just put and change service without asking permission lol, they didn't even give me notice of change lol; it was exactly like a fraud. Putting 3 years with no hardware lol; without intention?, how could that possible? lol
the customer service representatives in rogers doesn't even know about plans that they have. lol so, sometime you have to teach them about their service plan. They'll kept insists that they don't carry the service plan by saying "We can not put customer to service plan which is not existing" lol, and so told them to go check rogers.com, lol and there was a service plan in rogers.com.. lol
of course, i got the information from their website at first place..lol, and then, they don't apology at all and just kept saying "okay, do you want that service?"with very rude voice. lol (i had this thing happened with many customer service representatives in rogers .so it's not even a new thing to rogers.lol ), , they even assist you with wrong information. They even yell to customer even they're wrong, lol you could get some more abnormal shocking answer by asking a simple question to manager of Rogers customer center.. After i found out about all messed up of my account by their service representatives, so, I've asked a simple question to the managers in rogers ->"Who will take the responsibility when customer service representatives make error or mistake to customer?" don't even try to think any normal answer from them.. and the answer for the question was "no one" lol..At that point, you'll realize that you'll need to file your issue to BBB and CCTS to solve your issue with horrible rogers.. That was the only option to solve the issue. .lol.. ) Until i face the issue, i didn't really pay attention to why people uses "pre-paid service"… lol;; so now i did all the research about Wireless service industry in Canada, and the conclusion was "It's messed up", even Critics making fun of telecommunication provider in Canada by saying "Shameful scoring" , by using reference of JD POWER Canada. Their average was around 650 out of 1000, so it's like c grade.. some are even F according academic grading system.
(i seriously don't know what government of Canada is doing about this.. this is issue existing for quite a long time.. i guess, at least for a decade.)

So..i worried for going to PC mobile now.. but deducting 1.25per month by seven eleven seems not that great.

I don' t know.. selecting a cellphone service provider in Canada is extremely stressful.

Another bad thing in prepaid service is that you can not check the remaining minutes in your account at website.. (even with that… still. seems much better than service plan with Contract by the BIG3 in Canada)

sigh…

Should i just go for seven eleven ? because i have rogers one locked phone and one unlocked blackberry.. ( I will need to do porting for two lines..) or should i just buy one cellphone for PC service??

@_@….

anyways, how do you guys check the remaining minutes in PC and Speak Out?
Does any one know? (I've heard that i could check with pressing *777 in speak out, and is that true?.?)

Does anyone know about voice talk quality of BELL or PC?
(I've heard that telus is not that great, what about network of bell in B.C.???)

well.. have a great day guys~

bell actually has better coverage than rogers(in my area anyway) if 3G is important for you(it is not if all you care is emergency use pattern as GSM has better reach).

bell is technically cheaper in terms of real cost(no 1.25/month ding) at the expense higher cash outlay each year(25 vs 100) for emergency usage pattern.

service is something i would not care as it usually is either work or not work for a prepaid, very unlikely with accounting error(that is when you need them).

I use the phone in similar fashion and the net cost on SO is about 5/month(1.25 + occasional voice and text). SO has one advantage which is its UMB.

I have both PC Mobile and Speakout. I like them both. Both companies work to be competitive. You can buy airtime at Loblaws occasional tax free weekends, and Speakout has $125 for $100 every so often. I think the better deal depends on what services you want to use.

Those in QC cannot top up by using the website. I am in that situation and will be switching to PC as I am running out of credit soon.

Do you have a friend outside QC who could do the refill for you? Their limitation is based on credit-card billing address, not on the phone number.

Skype to Skype should give you pretty decent quality, SkypeOut however is another story.

SIP on the other hand is very iffy. I used PC before and it is not bad(well by that I mean comparing with home telus optik), this also depends on the other side. I found calling to non-mobile(in particular true landline) has very good result. If the other side is mobile, it can be from very good to very bad.

I would only use SIP/SkypeOut etc. for non critical calls(be it home ISP or mobile data).

My UK experience with Orange ( cell provider ) puts all these plans and services to shame.

Orange sold me a SIM and 5 pounds of air ( 25 p per minute ) for 5 pounds.
On my second top up of 15 pounds, a message popped up " you now have 600 free texts this month. Crikey guys if it weren't so expensive for food over there ( and petrol ) we'd look like idiots here paying what we do for texting.

Iknow its like comparing apples to

comparing with other countries only shows how badly canadians are treated.

i have a SIM that charges 1.2c/min, 2.5c/sms outgoing(local) 35c/sms outgoing(international), incoming SMS free, min top up 6 bucks/180 days, license fee(the e911 equivalent) of 4c/month, with global roaming enabled.
