Speakout voicemail & long distance | 7-Eleven Rates and Plans | Consumer forum

I have been very happy using Speakout for a few years now, including paying the normal 25c per minute to access occasional voicemail messages.

However, I recently acquired another new number and sim for a different area code, 705, and found that the voicemail number to call is a 647 number. This would make accessing voicemail when out and about a long distance call, at the additional long distance rates.

Am I missing something?
Should there be a "local" 705 voicemail number?
Or is it normal for those outside of major cities to pay long distance to access voicemail?
