Kymics and FlyBoy320: Are you both referring to the Bell Tablet Flex data (SIM only) plan described at http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Ce....._plans.tab?
FlyBoy320: How is your call quality with Fongo?
Yes, it's the tablet plan, which works great in my Nexus 4 phone.
Fongo works great for me, very little lag, and it's free. Others have posted lag problems, and it seems it varies from user to user, or phone to phone. Only way is to give it a try. The Bell plan is perfect for me since I only need the data, and very rarely actually use the phone to phone someone.

FlyBoy320: How is your call quality with Fongo?
Yes the Bell tablet flex plan. My friend has started using it on his Nexus 4 with Fongo and I had him call me using data over the cellular network (VOIP) and the call quality was acceptable. Not amazing, but definitely good enough to carry on a conversation.
Edit: I forgot to mention, we tested out SMS on Fongo and the performance was very good. There was no area code for our province but using a BC number showed up on my phone like a regular text number and the back and forth response time was very normal.
My wife used a Fido tablet flex plan in her Lumia 920 for a while and used a separate phone for texting, but more recently we put the Fido SIM in a MiFi device and put the texting SIM in her phone. It's not ideal to carry two devices but it keeps the price down in the prepaid realm. The $10 tier on her Fido SIM covers off 150MB so if she's mostly operating under wifi her data cost is low. Fido is $5 more than Bell for 1GB, but $5 cheaper than Bell for 5GB, so it depends on your usage which one is the better value.

Hello everyone,
I've been a lurker on this forum for a while now and am so very appreciative of all of the knowledge acquired from here. I thought I would share my personal experience just now and hopefully it will act as a heads up...
Today, out of the blue, my UMB was canceled. I called Speakout and they said that they were now transitioning EVERYONE off the UMB package, simply canceling all UMB services (not replacing it with the 'data' package). As per someone's experience here, I told them I was under the impression that it was being grandfathered until at least January 1, 2014, but apparently not with my account. Both ladies I spoke with at two different times sounded quite sure that it was now ending for good.
Just a heads up to everyone.

My UMB is paid for up until 28th October, yet it also has not been working for about the last week.
It is only about $5 worth but it is concerning that they seem content to simply break their commitment, take my money and cancel the service.
Why not just see it as the last of a good thing?
Did you use more than 100mb in the past two weeks? If so, then consider it a parting gift, ESPECIALLY if you were a +200mb/month user, IMO.

When I called om Monday I was also told the UMB was running until January. Since it had renewed a couple days before she credited me for that and switched me to data. Maybe they decided it was easier to just switch everyone over at once...The lines were pretty busy!

For how I use the phone I'm tickled by this. If there was no WiFi handy I used to have to activate data log onto a browser then open Hotmail or Facebook and update…Often it didn't work very well. Now I activate data, tap an app, and I'm there.
Mind you, right now I'm not a heavy user and I don't like watching teeny videos on a phone, so the same data usage issues won't apply to me. On the up-side, I just found out that from my 905 area code to Toronto, St. Catharines, Niagara Falls etc. are not long distance. Since I dumped my land line a few weeks ago that's good news!)
I do have one question - I emailed Speakout about data usage and this was the reply…"With our new Account Page, you can see how much data you have used and how much you have left however you will not be able view what sites you visited or how much data each site visit used."
Does anyone know where I can find this "new account page"?
