I was trying to refill a relative's Speakout account online and kept getting authorization failed. On the CC website I could see the attempts and called them to see if (a) there was something wrong with the account, and (b) to make sure they didn't freeze the account. They said there was nothing wrong, and put in a note to stop it from getting frozen.
Called 7-11 and they can't take my payment over the phone, my only choices are online or a 7-11 store (nearest is 4 hours away). They did suggest using IE instead of FF because the latter has better security, make sure my CC doesn't have a PIN I have to input, etc. Ideas akin to "delete your cookies and restart your browser", i.e. pointless. I did try IE and had the same problem.
Tried a different CC and it worked fine. I wonder if the first one was rejected because I'm a secondary cardholder on this account (which belongs to the relative who needs the refill). Now that I think of it (after the fact) I think with this CC both primary and secondary cards have the same number, though different CVV. So maybe I'd have had to put the primary cardholder's name, and the CVV from their card?
My problem is solved (by using my own card) but I'm posting this in case it's helpful for others.
