Hey everyone,
Speakout has recently added a new handset to their lineup - the entry-level Nokia 1208.
For those who haven't seen it yet (PetroCanada Mobility has had it for a few months), it's basically like the Nokia 1600, but a little newer and keypad looks a little different.
One huge thing I've noticed is the large price difference between the SpeakOut 1208 ($74) and the PetroCanada 1208 ($49). They are run by the same company, so what's up with that? Even if you factor in the fact that SpeakOut phones come with $10 worth of airtime instead of $5 (that PetroCan comes with), that's a difference of $20. That doesn't sound like much, but when you're starting at $50, that's a 40% price difference!
There's a price difference on the 2760 as well, but it's effectively only $5.
You can't really factor in (at least not too much) the extra bonues that SpeakOut offers, cause PetroCan offers PetroPoints. Plus whatever advantage SpeakOut had with bonues has been negated due to their increase in rates.
So, what's up with that Speakout?

They are the same company but I am sure they sell their services to 7-11 and Petro Canada.
So if 7-11 goes with a different marketing plan then it's all up to them if they want to charge .50c more per minute than PCM or vice versa. All I could say is go with the one that is most best for you?
This is a reason why I hope PCM will be smart and keep their current airtime rates.
