Hi
Please let me know if there are any inexpensive Canada wide call 24X7 and texting Only.

If there is long distance texting separately I don't mind paying.

The plan I have charges $25 per month to keep my no. active for the time I am away.

Hmmmm, is not 711SO $20 value plan better than what you already have?

https://www.speakout7eleven.ca/prepaid-cell-phone-rates + value plans

The only neg. the way I read is that you should deactivate saaay on the 28th day of your vplan timeline, since you supposedly loose any 'leftovers (nocarryover) Buuut 711so will charge you a new $20 the next month (autorenewal)… Ehhhhh!!!?

Imho

Virgin currently has a $29 plan that has canada wide calling, and unlimited texts. Downside is there are only 100 daytime minutes, but evenings start at 5PM. I believe you can also get a 10% discount if you bring your own phone.

Thank you Doug and Bridonca for your suggestions the SO only gives 100 mins and virgin's 100 and evenings. I usually make my calls before evenings and at times the calls go over 1 hour.

Thank you again

I don't have phone data and have survived very well with free North America texting through text+. Worldwide free texting is available for text+-to-text+ connections. It works well at home/work with Wi-Fi and out on the road through my mobile hotspot.

The beauty of text+ vs other proprietary services is that text+ is one of the few services that send text messages to real cell phones. It works very well without being locked into something like Viber or Skype only accounts.

I have found no downside to it yet.

Thank you ddalley for your suggestion – But the other person must also have text+ So the friends I send a text to must also have this downloaded on their mobile. I will also look into their website – thank you again

With Text Plus, you get another phone number to use for texting. So you can text other phones and they can text that phone number. The other person does not need to have text plus, just a working SMS account.

Text Now does the same thing, but as an added bonus, you can also send and receive texts when using a web browser, which is handy if you are near a computer.

Whatsapp needs a person with a Whatsapp client on their phone to communicate with each other though.

I made a point of saying that the receiver does NOT need to have text+. The people I text to never heard of text+, so it is certainly not a requirement. Text NOW sounds interesting, too, but text+ has been enough for me, so far.

The point is, look around and you will find an open system to text, no matter what conditions you must meet.

Hi SO team I truly appreciate all your kind and timely help.
I was with a cell phone carrier and was happy as they gave Canada wide calling and texting 24X7 and when I am away for a couple of months I don’t have to pay anything during that time and still get my number when I come back.
However as my family has an account with the sister company of the above and they promised they would also give a cell phone free which I kept saying I did not want and the monthly rates were less cheaper with the same features and the fees while away was $7 per month.
When the free cell phone came and I went to pass on the number to the above they said I am now in a contract and I shd pay $25 per month for the time am away. Now I wanted to payoff the amount for the phone and cancel my account with them and move back to the original co.
But they did not want to loose a customer and obliged me with what they said originally. Thank you.
This was one of the reason I was looking for 24X7 calling and texting in Canada.
Am truly very sorry for having taken all your time – and for reading my long story.
Now am looking for international texting it there is anything out there. I tried from my yahoo account and it did say it sent the msg but no one received.
It is strange that to call overseas is only max 2.5 cents per min, but the text is 25cents.
Thank you very much to the SO team for all their help.
