Till the end of the month, Fido is offering 3 GB of data for $15 a month on their tablet plan. The Fido SIM should work on Speakout phones without requiring an unlock code. The promotion ends Sept 30th.

I visited this page looking for someone to comment on this specific thing. 711 SO has become so obsolete, am I the only one thinking of leaving SO for someone else? The data charges are uncompetitive in comparison to things on the market.

I agree that data with SpeakOut is not competitive with other providers. I disagree with the comment that SpeakOut "has become so obsolete" However, it is perfect for people like me who don't need data. They started out as a low cost/no frills carrier. No other carrier offers a service where $25 (for talk/text) can last a year.

Dual SIM phones are generally awful though. You can either use one SIM at a time, or one of the SIM radios is GSM only. Better off with 2 phones.

On till Jan 3 or 10th depending on where you look.
Basically you can get a free tablet now (LG G Pad III), and if you play your cards right, a free $50 Best Buy gift card, and if you know someone on Fido already, a $25 referral bonus for both of you.
I just signed up. No complaints so far about the service though there was quite a bit of effort to convince the Best Buy sales guy that this deal even existed but after he called into Fido (twice!), they got it all figured out.

Chatting right now and being told by Irfan the deal is not available.
All of a sudden the deal is available!

Well my doubts were unfounded.
Tablet and sim are on the way and will be paying $15/month for 3GB of data on a "free" tablet.
Being Fido/Rogers I might try the sim in the 1st slot of my Speakout phone. We'll see.

This plan was really intriguing for me with the free tablet, but I missed out on it.
