I was researching and wondering
That is there a ROAMING SIM Card which is good for free incoming. In canada. I herd you can buy them for 40 bucks, they last a full year and you get free incoming calls from Canada.
Is that true?
thanks.

While I'd love to be wrong, I HIGHLY doubt there can exist a company that can offer that, at least via cellphone. Maybe in Europe where the cost structure for cellphone calls is way different from here, but not in North America.

Even the major cellphone companies are moving away from the 'unlimited incoming calls' feature on their monthly plans, since it's probably unprofitable for them, and they obviously charge more than $40/year.

Jesba, have you actually heard of this, or are you just wishing? My guess is the latter. I'd recommend wishing for unicorns or world peace, since both of those are more likely.

However, if you need a phone number for incoming calls, you can get something like that, for around the same price, from a VOIP provider, but you'll have to be at a computer with a fast internet connection. I use a company called vBuzzer and you can get a Toronto number with unlimited incoming calls for $25/year. And for an additional $25/yr you can get unlimited outgoing calls in the Toronto area. And their long distance rates are cheap as well. And you can get a fax line with a dedicated Toronto number for cheap as well (that's what I use it for). There are several other companies that offer similar services for probably similar rates. MagicJack is one that comes to mind.

And if you only need an incoming phone number for the lowest cost, you can try K7. WIth K7 you get a Seattle phone number and when people call you and leave you a voicemail, a recording of their voicemail gets sent to your email. And best of all, it's free.

But, as for anything like this for cellphones, well, I doubt it.
