It certainly does not look like I am gong to cancel my Speakout Data plan anytime soon.
Other than the 20 cent a minute rate, the rates and restrictions got worse. Unlimited data is now capped to 100 megabytes monthly data. That rate is upped to $10 a month from $7. The $15 plan is a joke, when you can still get the same plan for half the price at 25 cents a day. Is the $15 plan for people bad at math? Take a look here to see the damage. http://pctelecom.ca/LCLOnline/.....atures.jsp

Patches of manure is what makes the other side greener! I hope my plan is grandfathered.
Even if it is not, I can still use the Presidents Choice data for things like Skype. Both SIM cards will complement each other, and it will still cost me $200 total for the year.
It would be nice to know if the quota is actually enforced. I see nothing in their terms and conditions on what happens when I go over the quota. It is a bit bothersome that there is currently no mechanism to find out how much data is being used.

Hi - did you ever find out if the 100mb quota is enforced? I was looking at getting a Presidents Choice Mobile SIM for use when I go camping/in the countryside this summer (the Rogers network coverage in Sask is limited compared to the Bell/Sasktel network which PC Mobile uses, I believe).
I haven't researched PC mobile much as I've been happy with Speakout but I thought I might get a cheap SIM from Presidents Choice - are they $10?
Thx
Gary

Yes, Presidents Choice SIM cards cost $10 and come with $10 of airtime. There is some promotion where the first month is free, so that might be of use to you. I do not know the details. If you do, tell us about your experience.
I have not seen anything on whether that 100 megs a month is enforced. I discovered I am still grandfathered to the 25 cent a day unlimited mobile browsing, and I am not gonna switch to the new plan to find out! I suspect the quota will be enforced once there is an online billing system, which does not exist right now.
If you are not in any plan, Presidents Choice mobile charges 15 cents a megabyte.

BTW, I have an iphone4 - after reading your previous posts in other threads about PC mobile and data, I'm confused if PC SIM with unlimited data would work on the iphone4....
Though I have not direct experience, I cannot see why PC mobile would not work on an Iphone 4, now that there is no unlimited mobile browsing option.

Thx for the replies…so far I have tried an PC Extra Food store and a PC Superstore and they both don't carry SIMs. Still another Superstore and a 3 more Extra food stores here in Regina to try…
Called the 1-877-284-6361 number and he wasn't much help (and the most un-interested sounding person possible)…they don't sell Sims over the phone…he mentioned IGA stores as also carrying PC Mobile so might have to look there as well...

I finally got a knowledgeable agent at PC Mobile who informed me, once he realized I was in Regina, that PC Mobile does not sell SIM cards in Sask or Manitoba. If you select a HSPA phone listed on their website, they state 'not available for sale in Saskatchewan or Manitoba' - same goes for SIM cards. I'll have to either go to Alberta or Ont to get a SIM, I guess....

I would not buy a Presidents Choice Mobile SIM for Manitoba, because, as far as I know, there are no Bell/Telus HSDPA 3G towers, of which Presidents Choice Mobile uses . They are all Rogers towers shared with MTS. I beleive Telus still have a few CDMA towers, but that won't be useful.
I suspect Saskatchewan is not much better.

A President's Choice SIM for Manitoba would only be useful for someone who never leaves the city of Winnipeg. Telus has no towers outside Winnipeg. The province is only covered with MTS/Rogers 3G coverage with no roaming agreement with the Telus/Bell network..
If you just want phone coverage with no data, a CDMA phone on the Telus/Bell etc. system will be fine as the old roaming agreement with MTS for voice is still in place. If the phone takes a SIM card it will not work on that network. If you want data outside Winnipeg it will have to be with MTS or Rogers.
Saskatchewan will be fine for President's Choice later this year. Sask Tel partnered with Telus for 3G coverage, and the construction is under way. I'm not sure what stage the installation has reached.

I don't know much about MTS's network but
in Sask, HPSA/GSM/4G network for Sasktel, Telus and Bell are all on the same network/towers, with sharing agreements…
Here is the current 4G network map for Sasktel,, (and therefore also Telus and Bell).
They try not to ever state they're all on the same GSM network in SASK….
Only Rogers has their own towers/network in SASK with a much smaller coverage area…

You are partly right. The Sask Tel map is for their HPSA/4G and the old CDMA networks. It has no GSM coverage map.
The only GSM network in Sask. is Rogers and as you point out, it covers a lot less of the province. They pretty much only cover the interprovincial highways.
Here is the Telus coverage in Manitoba:

I can confirm that iphone 4 works with PC SIM with the now new 10/100M/month data option. There were some misleading and conflicting information on howard's forum saying PC SIM doesn't work with Bell smart phones. I cannot be sure with other Bell phones but the iphone 4 I have which is locked to Bell works with PC SIM including data. Would be in a month's time to see the actual usage charge(but that depends on how it is used as well).
I wish I didn't see the howard's forum post and got the then 7.5/month unlimited option instead.

Presidents Choice mobile's data setup was an utter mess right up to February. The data plans would only work on certain phones, and even then it required teeth to pull. I think once Bell figured out a smart phone was 99.999% of the HSDPA devices out there, the unlimited mobile browsing had to go. 100 MB sucks, but is still useful if you know how to economize on data.
I do not think an Iphone or Android device would have worked for you with Presidents Choice mobile's UMB, because Bell tied the plan to the device. My Nokia E71 was apparently too old to be of much danger. Either that, or I was such a royal pain, they relented.

I found the 100MB to be reasonable for my usage. I used to use the Kooda free 2 weeks introduction data and logged about 5MB/day for my simple browsing while no wifi is available situation. So it would net out to between 100-200MB a month(closer to 100MB as only on bus during work days mostly). Not as good as the 10/month unlimited as SO but has to settle for it as my iphone 4 is bell locked and PC is the only game in town to give me cheap data.
