Interesting... Their rates are changing Mar 7th.
Basically, they're raising the minimum per min rate from 25¢ up to 30. But if you sign up for one of their monthly "packages/features", the rate will drop to 20¢.
Check it out here.
Whether it's better or worse than their previous plan and/or when compared to SO, I dunno. I'll leave that up for discussion. I do like the fact that Telus has texting packages - are you listening SO?

In my opinion, SpeakOut is still the better option. I was with Telus when they were Clearnet many years ago.
Speakout's rates are still $0.25/minute. SpeakOut's local calling area is MUCH larger than Telus as well. Plus with SpeakOut, any top-up lasts a year. With Telus, only the $100 top-up lasts a year. Lastly, with Telus, text messages are $0.15 outgoing OR incoming. They hit you both ways. With SpeakOut, not only are their text messages cheaper at $0.10, but incoming text messages are free.

I am doing the math also. Telus mostly stinks in comparison to .
Telus $25 and $50 cards are garbage because of their embarrassingly short expiry period, so I will focus on the $100 cards, both which expire after 365 days.
Telus has an advantage in that is does not charge system access or 911 fees. so a speak out $100 card is actually $88.12. Even with that lesser amount, Speak out is the better deal.
Speak out $88.12 at 25 cents a minute gives you 352 minutes.
Telus $100 at 30 cents a minute gives you 333 minutes.
