hello i am trying to unlock my nokia 710 that i bought from wind mobile a couple of days a ago. i tried out there service and its not working out for me i keep lossing my calls due to low coverage in my area. | have called and asked few known places in st.catharines to try and unlock the phone and it seems like no one is able to unlock it.i even had a few unlocking website refund my money because they weren't able to give me the code to unlock it. i called the wind store at the pen centre to see if they where able to unlock it? they told me that i have to be with wind for 6 months to get an unlock code from them and they charge you 10.00 for it too but i guess thats the standard rules with every company theese days. i really don't want to keep giving them 40.00 a month for a service that i can't even use just to get an unlock code from them lol. if you have any idea's or suggestions on how to by pass this lock that wind mobile put on this phone please let me know
thank you for your time

Probably have to wait the 6 months, because Wind is too small a carrier for the unlockers to waste their time on. Nokia phones can be really nasty to unlock sadly, so you might be out of luck for a while.

Make sure the unlocker can deliver what they promise. Just because they may be able to unlock a Rogers Lumia 710 does not automatically mean they have the ability to unlock a Wind Lumia 710 for example.

so i called every store in my area that can unlock phones aren't able to unlock it. after that i called winds customer service and spoke to one of their reps about my problem.she told me that i have to be with wind for 6 months to get the unlock code.i told her that i have cancelled my phone and ported out my number can i still get the code because i still own the phone. she just repeated herself again like a broken record. so i would be very careful when you sign up with them. my calls keep dropping, loosing data conections, and no signals when you need it the most. before you sign up with them they check a third party site called coverage mapper and it shows where winds towers are placed and wheree you are located. for me i was getting green coverage in my area but it was out of the wind home zone. they asured me i would be still in the home zone area. i picked up the phone and trusted their word to it. i guess i am going to try and return the phone today and see how that goes. thank for your help bridonca

Is this the same situation where nokia is able to add a special layer of protection to prevent unlocking?

I remember this conversation with the 5130 on Speakout.

if i am right on this i think wind mobile gets nokia to lock it down pretty good so only wind mobile can give you the unlock code after 6 months. is this against some kind of consumer laws in canada,
