Hello,

I just want to shed out of my chest and see if someone could help me out here.

I have has this contract on Virgin mobile for 2 years out of 3 years. The phone I had with what they gave me did not respond well. Battery was terrible and calls where never audible. I did talk to those customer people for many times and they always gave me a negative response and never tried to help me. I was put into a hostile situation of platinum contract where they refuse to turn me to another contract where I do not really need data. On top of it, I have a cheap FEATURE phone which supports GSM 900/1800 mhz which is not supported by them. I want to change to rogers or something similar? If I just change without any notification what would be the sidekicks, if there are any?

Thanks!!!

I would recommend reading your contract.

If you did not know if you needed data, and you signed up for a contract where data is integral to the plan...

Well, you are not clear with what you are describing. I suspect that you just said yes to whatever, and now you are suffering with the consequences.

I have recently had this experience with a Virgin retentions CSR. I tried to get them to meet or beat on a plan, and they flat out did nothing for me. Their prerogative. However, they tried to make it hard for me to port out. If you ever watched the movie Fargo, and saw how the used car salesman would say he had to talk to his manager, when in reality, he did nothing but wait is his office for a little while, that situation.

This is what I would get you to do, read your contract, and see what there is is required to cancel out of your contract. I believe you have to pay $20 a month for each month for the phone and no service. Then talk to a Virgin CSR, and say you want to cancel the service and pay the $20 a month, but if they have a lower end monthly service, you are all ears. they should be able to switch contracts after you give them incentives. Anything they tell you is probably a lie, so if is sounds fishy, invite them to talk to their "supervisor" to get clarity. And be assertive, but polite. If they sence weakness, they will eat you alive.

And yeah, NEVER sign a cell phone contract longer than month to month!

And do not abandon your contract. It will negatively affect your credit rating.
