I'm just wondering if you can buy the PC sim card without buying a phone. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

No you can't buy the SIM card alone for both PetroCan and Speakout. You have to purchase it together with their phones.

In the GSM system, all of the phones use SIM cards (as far as I know). Here in Canada, that would be Rogers, Telus, Fido, Speakout.

Bell and Virgin Mobile use CDMA phones, which do not use SIM cards.

Telus does not use gsm, or i think. Telus cellphones do not support sim cards, like bell. it is CDMA

Jack is right, Telus is CDMA like Bell, Virgin, President's Choice, Solo Mobile in Vancouver, BC + some other operators nationwide. CDMA doesn't use SIM cards.

GSM operators in Vancouver, BC are Rogers, Fido, 7-11 Speakout, Petro Canada Mobility, Cityfone, Save On Mobility, Primus Mobility, Koodo + perhaps some others out of my knowledge. With SIM cards, GSM services cannot operate.

You might be able to, through the "Phone Exchange" forum here, and occasionally other sites like Craigslist or HowardForums. Some people will buy the phone packages "on special" because they want just the airtime, or the phone itself, and will resell the rest to recoup some of the cost, usually at a discount.

Actually, CDMA phones sold in some Asia countries like China also use a SIM card. It might be called a different name, but it function exactly the same as Sim card with GSM phones. So if you are buying an unlocked phone from overseas, don't assume that the phones taking Sim card are GSM phones.
