Hey guys. Great site =)
I just went out and bought a nokia 2760 phone for $100. I plan on taking out the sim and using it on another phone (which is on it way in the mail).
I set up the 2760, just so I could start the number porting process from telus (which could take up to 3 days they told me)
I plan on selling the 2760 without the sim and I just want to know how to advertise it. Is it unlocked for sure? is there a way for me to tell?
Also, when it starts up, it has the petro canada logo. Should i be removing that somehow?
Basically, I'm a newb when it comes to this stuff, and I want to be able to describe my phone accurately when selling and not get negative feedback.... is this an accurate description?
BNIB Unlocked Nokia 2760 - Can be used with any GSM network... just add sim card
Thanks for any info!

The Petro Can Nokia 2760 phone should be unlocked. To ensure it is, you can ask borrow the SIMs of your friends who are using Rogers and Fido (I think you shouldn't miss this) and insert them into your phone to see if it works.
I believe you don't need to remove the Petro Can logo because it shouldn't appear in the screen if you insert another operator's SIM.
To sell your phone, you can try advertise in this forum or Howard Forum or Craigslist or Kijiji or similar sites.
Regarding the description, what you're giving is okay but of course you can put in a little more details say it is a 850/1900 dualband phone...etc. You can always check the details from Nokia web site.

As long as anyone you know is using Rogers or Fido service, he/she will have a SIM card to lend you for this purpose, it's not necessary they are on pay as you go or pay and talk plans.
If you really want to get rid of the logo thing, maybe you can try change the display setting of operator's logo to "Off".
FYI, I'm now using the Petro Can SIM in my Petro Can Nokia 2630, the Petro Can logo is still on despite I've set the operator's log setting to "Off".
However, when I insert my Rogers SIM into the phone, the Rogers logo appeared.

Thanks for the info guys... I guess I'll have to try and find someone who has a sim card that I can try.
I also figured out how to take the logo off, so I figured that 'd post it for anyone in the future with the same problem...
Its not a logo issue, its a theme issue. My nokia 2760 came with 4 themes installed..one of them is a petro canada theme, and it was the default theme. I just changed it to one of the other three and now I have nokia logos when I startup/shutdown.
