Hello,

I've got a Petro-mobility pay-as-you-go plan with the unlimited web browsing option. I've been using the service since aug 2011. I recently changed phones from an iPhone 3gs to a Galaxy S2. I was successful at reconfiguring the web access part by using the 10.128.1.69, port 80 (APN: goam.com, user/pw: wapuser1/wap). So far the only site I'm getting some problems with is youtube. I can't access youtube videos anymore. I'm able to go on the site, but as soon as I tried to view a video, nothing loads. I've even tried the https://www.youtube.com thinking there might be some content filtering on the proxy, but it still doesn't work. Youtube starts working again if I connect by wifi.

Anyone have this issue? Has there been any recent restrictions on the we.

What could be causing this? MY APN setting?

When you watch a video on wifi does it play in the browser or does it play in the youtube app? With android phones the apn settings only afftect the browser. You have to install a proxy app that will allow you to use more applications. I like proxydroid. There are a lot of good threads with information on this site as well as others that tell you how to set it up.

Try m.youtube.com and see what happens. That probably will not work either.

I believe you are experiencing Rogers traffic management at work. If the cell site you are using gets too much traffic, youtube is one of the first services to go, so as not to bog down the cell site. I suspect you will still be able to use youtube at 3 AM on a Tuesday.

I'd like to try proxydroid, except I noticed you need to root your phone. Are there any equivalent proxy applications I can install and configure that doesn't need rooting your phone?

Well, I found some proxy apps that don't need rooting. (See my post below in the forum)
However, nobody confirmed or answered my question.
I think it's best for you to just download the apps I listed and try them.

you are missing up proxy with autoproxy. in general you don't need 3rd party proxy program but autoproxy requires root, period.
