Sorry for this simple question but I'm a SO and cellphone newbie.
I'm learning very quickly though. 🙂

Can I buy a SO SIM card from another SO user, put it in a to-be purchased non-SO cellphone and just top up the card when it gets low?

If yes, do I need to contact SO when I get the card to get any info transferred to me?

I'm asking because I would like to avoid buying the SO phones if I can, buying something more useful to me.

TIA

Yes, you can buy a Speakout sim from another owner with minimum issue. You can even easily change the phone number for free if you are in another province. It costs if you change it in the same calling area though. If you are happy with the number, you do not have to deal with Speakout if you do not want to.

Speakout does not require a name or address. So nothing needs to be transfered. The only thing you might want from the seller is his voice mail password, so you can use it.

OK thanks very much for this. I really appreciate it.
So all I need is an unlocked cell phone that accepts a SIM card and a Speakout SIM card
and I'm good to go?

TIA

If the phone works with any North America GSM phone carrier, and it is unlocked, it should work with Speakout. Locked Rogers phones work also, but not locked FIDO phones.
