Other than those living in big cities of Toronto, Vancouver, etc., how to handle the deal can be a problem (can hardly meet in person).
Why not go to eBay? We can get the seller's history records and reviews. People can also settle a dispute through eBay, which has direct information of the seller's credit card and has a professional team on disputes.

Other than those living in big cities of Toronto, Vancouver, etc., how to handle the deal can be a problem (can hardly meet in person).
For many people this forum is "friendlier" than something like eBay. There's also usually more SO-related stuff for sale here than there. And unlike eBay there are no listing and sale fees to pay.
Use whatever mechanism you find more convenient and/or that offers what you need at the lowest cost, etc.
