Didn't try the rice. Instead I took the battery and SIM out and dried out all the pieces in front a fan for approx. 40 hours before I even attempted to turn it back on. No dice. Luckily the SIM card did work in another phone.
It was expected. I only discovered the phone was water damaged when it started emitting a high-pitched "squealing" noise from the purse it was in. I immediately took it apart and noticed it was very hot to the touch 🙁
