I looked in the manual, in numerous online sites, etc., but there did not appear to be a Settings option to turn off key-click! I took the freebie because it was there, for a family member wanting to be able to type text messages on a real keyboard, and because of Alcatel's reputation in Telecoms, but of course, it's not really an Alcatel phone, it's made by Chinese feature-phone maker TCL Mobile, whose website is only in Chineseā¦
It really seemed that there was no way to turn off keyclick on the Alcatel 356.
BUT then, a family member with more time on his hands than I, figured it out. Here is is for everybody else that wants to know:
HOW TO TURN OFF KEYCLICK ON THE ALCATEL 356 ONE TOUCH
Go into Profiles (not Settings)
Select General
Press Options, Choose Edit
Use the navigator key to scroll to the RIGHT, 4 or 5 positions, you will find Key Beep!
Set it to Silent.
Hit the back button a few times.
Mirabile dictu.
Of course you can change it in other Profiles if you like, with the obvious changes.
