I have a quick question about data on a blackberry.
I recently found an 8300, put my sim in it and talking and texting works fine.
For service it says "GSM" from what I understand for data to work it needs to say "GPRS". If I get the unlimited data, will this change? or can I not get data because my original phone (1661) was not capable of it?

You blackberry 8300 should be able to use Speakout data once you input the correct APN settings. If it is a Rogers phone it should already be configured. I do not know if you can message through blackberry's servers with Speakout data, but you can certainly browse and tether.
To get data, just call a speak out representative to activate it. You might get a speech from them saying data will not work on a 1661, or that they do not support 3rd party phones, but after that, they will activate data on your Speakout SIM.
