For all the BB users, I got sort of push email to work on Speakout. Funambol is the app you need to have (google for web site). Once loaded you can register and link your gmail, yahoo, etc...mail to it. There are many settings from the mock push (virtually instant), every 5 min, 10 min to once a day email checking.
I have used it for a couple days at the 5 minute setting and it works great. I wouldn't recommend using the push setting as the battery life is severely affected because it uses data not BIS/BES.
Hope this helps some users.

I am using a blackberry 8900 and am trying to set up Funambol for push email with a gmail account.
Initially, I had registered on the myFunambol Portal, and had linked the Funambol Push Email client to the portal id - it partly worked: I could send via the client, but inbox was not loading.
Instead, is it possible to link the email client direct to Gmail? If so, on the Account Settings page, what do I need to enter (I tried m.google.com, email, password but it cannot connect)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Next, I'll want to sync google contacts and calendar in the same way.

I used outlook to sync contacts. For mail, you only need to set up your gmail account in funambol user portal. Once that is done, set your funambol to check for messages every 5, 10, 15 minutes or whatever you want. I found that using it in "Push" mode crashed it often.
If that doesn't work for you, I can't help anymore. I'm off the BB and back on iPhone.
