I bought a sim from 7-11 I activated it online. when you insert the sim card there is no signal bars or "Speakout" name, it says "Searching", after a minute it will say "No Service". I have tried rebooting and restoring the iPhone 3GS with no luck.

Have you tried turning off 3G on the iPhone settings. There are areas now that 3G doesn't work.

Some people have reported this. Did you cut the sim yourself? The sim card might be misaligned to the contacts. Even if it is off by a bit, the iPhone won't recognize the sim card.

Yes I have turned 3G on and off no difference
I took the sim out of the packaging, myself, I did not have to cut it. it comes out easily

The SpeakOut sim is the standard size, and will have to be cut into the iPhone micro sim size. That could be the problem. The contacts aren't aligned. You can do a search of the forums and see this has been discussed before.

Have you tried the sim in another phone? It seems the sim wasn't activated correctly. Also, some activations have been known to take several hours, even a couple days.

The sim card needs to be activated for it to show signal. Otherwise, it will say searching and then go to no service. My guess is it hasn't been activated properly..
