Hi

Just get the C3 and like it better than my Optimus One(the screen is not as good as the LG but I feel more at home with the C3 style navigation).

Anyway, could someone tell me how do I upgrade the firmware to 7.2( from 4.2) ? I tried the builtin upgrade firmware option(via Wifi) which just tell me there is no upgrade available but we all know that the newest is 7.2

thanks in advance.

It was awhile ago, but I believe that I used the Nokia Ovi Suite desktop manager, and a USB cable. I didn't do it over wi-fi.

thanks. anyone know where to get this micro USB cable cheap ? It is a bit ridiculous that there is no such thing comes with the phone(afterall, it is a smart 'dump phone'). I can use my LG one(just for this upgrade) but I am planning to sell it soon.

I bought my micro-USB cable from Deal Extreme, item 43233.

It took a couple of weeks to arrive, but it eventually did, and it worked fine. I also bought a 4GB micro-SD card from Deal Extreme, to install in my C3.

does SO sell different C3 model ?

I tried the nokia.ca site and punch in my product code (059F4C9) and it said no update is available, same goes for the Ovi suite and the in phone software update option. *#0000# also doesn't contain the 'options' menu item.

The current one is 4.6.

well, I have tried all the mentioned way (on phone update, *#000# and ovi suite) and none of them allow me to do the upgrade.

I am wondering if there are serverely crippled C3 that have locked. May I ask what is your code that shows under the battery ?

I found one and a protective case at this site, the price included free shipping which i thought was not bad. The actual packaged said it was mailed from Quebec.

How did you get the APN settings? Am thinking of attempting the upgrade but not sure what I will get myself into.

The APN setting is locked. However, you can set your own in "personal settings". And now the newest version is v8.63. Forget about the code.

I would assume that instead of upgrading your phone firmware using the nokia route, you are actually doing it via JAF ?

Do you have any good link to help explain this? Maybe there is a thread in this forum somewhere (though a search didn't give me anything)? I don't mind learning something new, but I want to have some idea before I attempt anything.

And is the new version worth it?

Thanks.

It depends on what you want to use your phone. if you just use it make a call, never upgrade it.

I am using it for more than just calls. If there is a big difference I would like to upgrade it but I am not sure if it is worth the headache. It is obviously possible but I can't find anything about how to set the Personal Settings to make the phone work. I don't want to do this unless I am sure I can get it to work.

Hi all,

I've been trying to locate a version of Navifirm that'll work with the C3-00. I've used v. 0.4, v.1.1 by Cepot and v.1.3 (Navifirm plus) and none of them have C3-00 as a choice. Is there any other freeware out there for flashing the C3? Please provide links if you can, if not, a PM to me would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

So I tried re-installing Navifirm+ 1.3 and ran it on XP Pro 32-bit rather than Win7 Home Prem 64-bit. I selected Production External and then C3-00 (RM-614). At that point I got an error saying:

An error occurred when attempting to download firmware information.
[SoapException]
Service specific exception: com.nokia.posti.server.caresuite.webservice.ProductNotFoundFault

I tried the Quality Assurance and Nokia Care Suite servers as well and got the same error. Also, the Parse VPL box was unchecked because if checked, C3-00 will disappear from the drop down list after the above error first appears.

Please help if you can. Thanks!
