I own a Nexus One and so far was not able to get the SO Data service to work.
I used the settings as stated here and tried out all available options, it just doesn't work.
The thread mentioned above and other postings in this and Howard's forum indicate that Android phones may not work on SO. Under all these postings I have not found any indication that Android data service does work on SO, and am troubled by that though.
If you
a) are an Android phone user and
b) got the wireless internet working on the phone using SpeakOut
could you please help by providing:
- your settings (APN, Proxy, Post, Authentication, APN name and everything else that may be relevant)
- your make and model
- your location
I very much appreciate your help.
If you don't have an Android phone I appreciate your willingness to help but please don't post because you wouldn't be able to help. My SIM works with std Nokias, S60's and iPhones -- but all known configurations do not work on Nexus One. The Nexus however is unlocked, voice/data works fine on Fido, voice also works on SO.
Thanks.

just to give an update here on my original post:
The thread that I mentioned above now has a very helpful post from RZP.
In essence:
- Nexus1 applications (and maybe all applications on Android version 2.1) do not consider the proxy settings, one has to configure the proxy in the browser
- Such configuration is not possible in the Safari Browser that is installed as the default
- It is prossible however, when using Mozilla Fennec browser (still in alpha)
Check out the thread above, it helped me to get my N1 working. There are still severe implications (such as the settings are forgotten on every power cycle) but at least I now know what causes the problem - it is Android 2.1 and not SpeakOut 🙂
