Hi everybody,
I'm gonna buy one of the phone proposed with Speakout but I'd like to buy one that work in Europe and especially in France. I've seen that it has to do with GSM, i.e. here in Canada it is GSM 850/1900 and in France it is GSM 900/1800.
It seems that the Nokia 5200 would work in France, does it actually work ? And would any of the cheapest phones also work ?
Furthermore, are the phones provided by 7-eleven unlocked or do we have to unlock them ourselves ?
Thanks for your help.

Actually, the Nokia 5200 sold in Canada has 3 bands - the two N.American ones (850,1900) and one of the European ones (1800 Mhz).
The phone will probably work in Europe, just check to make sure that the provider you want to use is using the 1800MHz GSM band.
The phone might work, but 7-11 Speakout service will not work outside of Canada.
All the other phones that Speakout sells only have the two N.American GSM bands so they won't work in Europe.

I have a phone that has 900/1800/1900 GSM bands. Can I use this phone with Speakout network?
Assuming it's an unlocked phone that it should work in most, but not all, locations in Canada where dualband 850/1900 phones work.
Do these phones work in Europe ?
Again, assuming unlocked then yes 900/1800 works in Europe. Of course you'll need a SIM or SIMs that work there. SO's does not.
