Hi folks,

I was getting tired of seeing "HOME" listed as my carrier on my iPhone 4, so I finally decided to do something about it. Maybe some of you already knew this, but I, at least, was surprised to learn that you can relatively easily change the name/logo of the carrier listed on your iPhone, using a small freeware Mac app called CarrierEditor….WITHOUT jailbreaking, and WITH the ability to restore the default if need be.

I took the liberty of converting a 7-Eleven Speakout Wireless logo into a new carrier logo for the iPhone. The logo looks like this:

Once I modified it for use with CarrierEditor and uploaded it to my iPhone using that program, my phone wound up looking like this:

..and this:

If you want to use that logo instead of "HOME" or whatever else is showing, follow these steps:

1. You need to download two .PNG graphics files, 120px by 40px. They're the same exact graphic, just named differently. One is "black" and one is "etched"; the reason there needs to be two files is because you could do a different logo for the "black screen" showing your apps, and the "lighter screen" such as you see in the Settings window. Anyway, download the two files I've created:
Black: http://s000.tinyupload.com/ind.....8196888853
Etched: http://s000.tinyupload.com/ind.....1547022130

DO NOT RENAME THESE FILES. They should be black(@2x).png and etched(@2x).png.

2. Download, install, and run CarrierEditor, available here:
http://uhelios.com/downloads

3. There are instructions all over the web how to use the program; it's quite simple, and only takes about 5 minutes at most to do. Find any video or web page that tells you how. Or, follow the instructions included on each "page" of the program (it's basically a wizard that leads you through the process…it has help text AND pictures to show you what to do, it's really simple).

Basically, you start the program, input your carrier version (instructions will make it obvious how to do this), and select your carrier (select "Rogers"–there's no SpeakOut listing, but it doesn't really matter in this case). Then, when CarrierEditor asks you to drag and drop the graphics you want to use, use the two .PNG files that you downloaded above. The wizard then generates two ".IPCC" files: one to use for your new logo, and one to restore the defaults if need be (or, you could just restore your iPhone via iTunes, and that'll wipe out any changes you've made). Once you've got the .IPCC files, go to iTunes, press "restore backup" WHILE HOLDING DOWN THE ALT/OPTION KEY, select the new .IPCC file, and you're done!

4. Once I got the logo onto my iPhone via iTunes per the CarrierEditor instructions, I had to power down and then restart my iPhone to see the change.

If anyone has questions about this process, let me know. I thought it was pretty neat!

Incidentally, of course, if you want to design or use your own logo, or use one of the logos that is supplied with CarrierEditor, you are most welcome to do so.

Yes–some phones will show "HOME", some show "SpeakOut", some show "ROGERS", etc. The point here is that you can replace the text with the cool logo graphic (click one of the thumbnail images above to see what it looks like closeup).

Alright, most of the world lives using a PC and unfortunately your links are for MAC's.

For anyone interested here is a link for Windows PC's with pictorial instructions and a link to download the CustomCarrierLogo program for Windows:

http://www.ijailbreak.com/how-.....rrierlogo/

Also a Youtube "How to".

I assume that the 2 png pictorial files are applicable in the Windows version. (They do)
==============================================================

PS: I did try this and as far as the CustomCarrierLogo program for Windows goes, it works.
Regardless of what I do the logo will NOT show in my iPhone 4S. It seems that the "Rogers carrier" number changes continuously. It started out at 14.0 then 14.1 next 14.2 and 14.3 then lastly at 14.4
and the logo does not appear. Every-time the phone gets booted up the version number goes up by .1

Don't know how it works for the OP, but certainly does not for me. I can only assume that the
OP is using an older IOS, mine is 6.1.3

I'm sorry to hear you had issues. I can't vouch for attempting this on a Windows PC. I also can't vouch for trying it on an iPhone 4s. I did it on my Macbook Pro, on my iPhone 4, and it worked without any problems whatsoever. My iOS version, by the way, is 6.1.3 just like yours.

The carrier number should NOT change continuously every time the phone boots. Could it be that you're not precisely following the CustomCarrierLogo instructions? I don't know. Like I said, works fine for me on my Mac.

The CustomCarrierLogo program is just the way to create the 2 files, the new Rogers_ca_14.1 and the
Rogers_ca_original it replaces. Once created, it then deposits the 2 files on the Desktop.
Then iTunes is supposed to transfer it to the phone by choosing in iTunes the Rogers_ca_14.1 file
from the desktop. So regardless how the file was created it should be the same file iTunes is to
transfer to the iPhone.

In any case I give up, I even tried to use other ready made files which come with the program
and they did not transfer either.

Just an FYI for anyone stumbling across this thread--I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS7, and I can confirm that CarrierEditor does NOT work on iOS7 devices. The author of CarrierEditor is currently looking for a workaround.
