I couldn't see anyone posting about this before when I tried to do search through these forums… So thought I would let the community know that even if you turn on the "unlimited browsing" add-on ($10/mth) and have the appropriate APN setup on your iPhone (using the WAP proxy – BTW thanks "andreww" in Toronto) it does not enable your phone to be found with Apple's iCloud/MobileMe "Find my iPhone".

So unless I have missed something, be warned that you will not be able to use Apple's "Find my iPhone" functionality with Speakout Wireless.

This is by no means a complaint btw… I love using Speakout so far. It's just merely an observation that will hopefully be helpful anyone considering switching to Speakout from another carrier.

*edited* to remove reference to "data bundle" as it could be confusing.

Thanks for the clarification. Just to add to your post, there is no data bundle with SpeakOut. It's is merely unlimited browsing.

Indeed. Sorry, for the using confusing/conflicting of terms. I have corrected this in OP.

I just tried Find iPhone from the iPad2 to the iPhone 4S, both using Speakout and both with browsing, and both on a known wifi network. Both also upgraded to 5.1.1.

I couldn't find the iPad from the iPad, as expected.
The iPhone didn't immediately register. Tired of waiting I chose the option to send a sound. Immediately heard the sound. Realizing how difficult it might be to stealth, I chose message which immediately came up on iPhone screen but no notification sound. Once communication was established with the first Send Sound, the iPhone came up on the map.

I moved around the apartment that stretches front to back over two streets while hitting the sync and the phone moved to match the changes.

Summary – find iPhone works for me.

FWIW:: I use Find My Friend regularly for my neighbour who suffers from dementia and loves carrying his iPhone everywhere. That app works great. If you can't get Find iPhone to work for you, set up Find My Friend with a friend or relative or even a second Apple account. You can track using any web browser on any computer.
